Ok, guess I'll post up what I have to start with.
65 bug shell

3 rib bus trans, Ford 2.3 out of a pinto or some such thing with a Holly carb.

Widened Linkpin beam up front, with towers, Sacco Rack, I think, full cage front to rear, Race Trim seats, 16 gallon fuel cell, Fox shocks for the rear(need to be rebuilt) rear is otherwise stock setup, but not sure what size torisions are in it.

Some pics

fox shocks

The interior is down to bare metal now, needed some welding/rust repair. you can see my terrible body repair, but it'll work.

I need to get the seat moved back an inch or 2, and all the tabs for seat belts, as fuel cell mount, and a cross bar in the main hoop to make the cage legal for racing I believe. not sure if I missed anything else in that.

gonna put a bare aluminum dash panel in after I paint it, and rewire the whole car. New Crow 5 point harness's are in the mail now.

Now is where I need some advice.

I need headlights, but not a lot of money, any advice?

I have a straight header off the ford 2.3, I need some exhaust ideas, I'll post up better pics tomorrow after I get off work, but looks kinda tight.

I need to get an airfilter setup, the one on the car works, but its pretty beat up, and ungainly, what do you guys recomend for air filters? build one of the pods with a cone filter inside it?

I have 4 lug rims in the back, and wide 5 up front. want to go to disc brakes in the front, should I just leave the rims be till I have the money for that and do 4 lug dics? or some other idea?

any other areas where you might think I'll have an issue?

thanks a ton, and I'll get some fresh pics up in the morning.

do you already have disc brakes in the rear? I've read rear braking is more important in a baja bug than front breaking, on the dirt anyway.
not sure what you're looking for in headlights.
or check this www.azbaja.com/Forums/...=4423.html

search alot of pics for airfilter ideas. there are so many cool ideas I've seen.

As far as lights go, harbor freight has some $10 kc style lights.

air filter I'm having problems with is because holley carbs have that center stud to hold the filter down. most of the canister shielded ones I've seen clamp on to VW style carbs with a hose clamp at the top.

hmm, eng. problems are fun.

Interior is about 80% bare metal, I'll finish up whats left on my days off this week, and contact bugzyla aobut the cage stuff.

The 3" SuperTrapp will fit into the Header you have now. I use 24 Disc's normal is 12 Discs. Look for center Nut. It is built to slide inside the header you have, you might need to give superTrapp a call and ask for it, I can not see it on the web site but it looks like this with out the extension.

www.supertrapp.com/pro...p?CatID=35

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Moller SuperTrapp maker odd info.

You can see the fuel cell behind the seats, added the bar behind the seat with seatbelt tabs, and the other tabs for my crow harnesses.

I'll put both seats in and harness's for a test fit over the next few days I have off and get some pics up.

NICE start navynuke! Seems your on one heck of a start.
How many folks have the rear as open as yours? Never seen that outside full Baja/Race.

I think this was originally put together as more race than street.

might work on closing in some of it later, but first gonna get out and see how dusty it gets inside.
