I wish the GPS would accept an external antenna- with a flat windshield, it's gonna be hard to mount it and give it a good outside view all the time. Maybe I should just cut the roof off so the GPS can see the sky... Laughing

I let my GPS sit on the seat of the car and it works just fine. It's picks up the GPS satalites from the side, not straight up to calculate were your at. it needs to triangleate on your postion and that hard to do if it above you Smile

Sooo, yesterday I primed and painted my upper beam supports. I also powdercoated the lower beam supports (they'll fit in my oven- the uppers are too long). Tonight, I powdercoated all the beam clamps. I'm headed out to the garage right now to start putting some herculiner on the front wheelwells and cleaning up the front end before I reassemble it.

Okay- I got the front end bed-linered tonight with a second coat. I put about four coats on the wheel wells, actually. I did the firewall and the frame head/tunnel extension also. I also taped off the lower part of my rear fenders that were all dinged up from debris from the front wheels and put some on there- looks kinda cool, actually (better than all the dings in the paint from the rocks!).

So, tomorrow I think I'll hang the beam back on there and start final assembly. Hopefully next week it'll get to Bugzyla's lair for brake plumbing, rear upper shock mount fabrication, and steering completion. Then all I'll have left is to snooker mama into letting me order some REAR FOA's... Laughing

I do plan on doing some insulating in the roof, rear package tray, etc. to try and cut down on some interior noise. Also have my CB and GPS to install, and my wiring cover to fabricate. *Sigh*- I guess it'll NEVER be finished!

So, got a little bit closer to the finish line tonight. Here's a couple pics I snapped.
Here's the front end after bed-linering it.

Here's with the beam back on. Now, the steering box is on, as well as the tie rods.

And here would be my bed-liner rock guards. Laughing

TWO FEET ON THE FLOOR!- Rear end is assembled, and both back wheels are supporting their own weight! CVs are clocked, greased, and both axles installed. Wow. With any luck, it should roll out of the garage and see the light of day TOMORROW. Won't be driveable for a bit yet, but it'll move from garage queen to trailer queen- a step in the right direction anyway. Tomorrow, I need to find a left International tie rod end, a front wheel seal, and that's about it. I have to shorten a couple of cap screws for the front caliper mounting brackets, then I can install both front wheels.

With any luck, I'll load it tomorrow, and will be taking it to Daryll on Tuesday for a few minor things. Just waiting on my front shocks at that point...

I can't wait to see how it looks out in the driveway tomorrow.

Do you have or need the seal numbers? What about door handle is that one need replaced? Looks sharp, like the bed-liner use. Heck of a job you are doing, it will definitely be worth the time effort and money.

Thanks for the props, Leather. I found a number on the one front seal that I have- hopefully finding another one won't be too hard. There's no brand name on it- it says "CR" and "USA" and "545358"- hopefully that will be enough.

The door handle works fine, although I do have another one I swiped from a door I had laying around, I just haven't gotten around to replacing it yet. I've got some sound deadening to do inside the doors at some point, so I'll probably swap the handles then.

Well, it's back on all four wheels- FINALLY! Hopefully will be trailering it over to Daryll's tomorrow after I get off work. It looks AWESOME sitting in the garage. The front end ground clearance is about 16 inches, and just about 17 at the engine cage. I can't wait to DRIVE IT!
