Hey, Npetric...(BTW...is your last name Petric? One of my buds up here is a Petric)...but anywho, any chance I can get you to shoot me a pic or post a pic of how you tied your A-arm subframe into the original panhead? Or is it built into the cage/tube chassis? I'm assuming it's the latter, which is the only way I've seen to make it stout enough on my own...?
And any idea what tire size your front spindles are rated for?? I'm planning on 33" tires all around and will be bouncin through rocky flats, ruts, washouts, etc...it's become a serious concern for me! Thinking of dipping into the circle track world and running some Chevelle/Mustang II spindles/brakes. Also just picked up an 06 Mustang power rack&pinion today for some old 31s!

I will snap some close up pics this weekend for ya, I tied it into the cage and the tunnel of the pan.
Not sure of the rating on the spindles, but I will eventually run 33s to match the rear. I did change them a little from what was sent to my from kustom 1..I ditched the combo spindle spuds and got some huge king kong spuds from foddrill fab. I think they are the biggest you can get before going to the 2" hollow spindles. They should hold.

Cool...my brain is actually right on the money then! What did you end up using for hubs then? I have to figure that all out before I can order up some darn wheels! I've got some hollow spindles/bearings/hubs off a Dana 44, but I don't want those heavy ass brakes! Crap...forgot I'll have to completely rebuild the brake setup too...ugh. Never liked brakes.

I have some proam front hub for the king kong spindles...I got them used with some cool wave rotors....

OK...so NOW I'm onto worrying about the rear. Think those bearings/stub will handle 33s? I guess I'm doing the entire 930 conversion as well, so those stubs should actually get upgraded, right?
And I plan on running a 33x9.50 all terrainon all 4, so they'll be a bit lighter, easier to cut loose...

I am sure the conversion stub axles will be plenty stong enough for 33x9.50 tires. I have 33x10.50s os the back and am not worried about them. I do think, however, that gear one makes a monster stub for the 930 into a type1 bearing carrier and you would have to run their brake set....$$$$$

WooHoo! Scored a power rack&pinion out of an 07 Mustang today for $30, and he says that if he still has the Sport seats out of it they're mine, just gotta take them out! Should be perfect for the 5-points. About 40 more deals like that and I'll actually get this thing done someday!

What's even funnier about that last comment is that I haven't really even started! I've got the front fenders and the hood off! Oh...and I had myself a little tantrum and most of the interior came out with a prybar and a razor blade...not kidding...

Make sure that rack is for a rear steer set up and not a front steer. if it's a front steer you make a left and the car will go right.

Rear steer= tie rods hook to wheel behind turn pivot.
Front steer= tie rods hook to wheel in front of turn pivot.

Front steer rack...is bad for a VW that is a rear steer car.

Point too. see how the tie rods are real short. this is real bad in an off road car, bump steer from he77... You need longer tie rods and a center tie rod hook up rack, not one with the tie rods out the ends. If you have this rack scrap it now it's all bad and you will be hating life...

Well....
Enigne has to come back out of the car. Mad
Have a small ATF leak at the torque converter. Talked to Jeff Field today and from what I gather the seal is pushed in too far. I guess the one I used isnt as deep as the factory one and it is common for it to fail.
I had the day off today and was going to work on the car all day but decided since I couldnt find all the parts to finish my build in my cave I call a garage I better do some cleaning first. Spent all day on the shop side of the garage and am allorganized and ready to continue.
Only got in 45 min of working on the car before the boss got home. But all I have to do is drain the coolant, undo my mounts and lift the motor out.

Not much of an update but heres some pics from today.






Sad that I am already pulling the motor on it.......

i want your tranny,how hard are they to come by ? and will do u think a type 3 auto will be sufishent for a max of 175ft. pds. and 29-10.50's tires ?
