Well....another week goes by and still havent test drove this damn thing....
I do need some help from you guys......
Bled the brakes last weekend. I have a 2master cylinder brake pedal. the front bled fine the right rear bled fine but the left rear would not bleed with my vacum bleeder. Decided I had to go old school and get a helper.....
Was able to bleed them but ran into a turning brake problem. The right side turning brake seems ok but the left has nothing until you pump the brake pedal...then you cant even move the left turning brake handle 1/2".. WTF????
Bled it again.....same thing.
The turnig brakes are new......but I bought them a long time ago.
The caliper seems ok. It seems like it is releasing fine. Any ideas???

same thing happened to mine but my right rear wouldnt work, left worked great very short throw in the turning brake, i ended up having a very small leak at one of the flares, would not drip but it sucked air in.

I JUST picked up my 74 Baja tonight, so I can't help with any questions, and have never dealt with turning brakes or line locks yet.
I had a question about your A-arm setup though...it looks like your mounts at the frame are relatively horizontal to the ground, are they as they appear or is there a little pitch to them? I'm STRONGLY debating A-arms, but I want to street drive it and after my days of rockcrawling I don't really like rod ends for street use. I don't fear them failing, just don't like the noise, and teflon rodends are $$$. Would prob just try urethane bushings and 1-ton balljoints? I don't know yet...but I would prob try to incorporate a little more pitch in the mounts to suck up the big rocks/holes...

1FASTHOE, I'm the guy that has been grillin you on your 22r install! Thanks for the help, I just traded an exocage job for my cousin's built 22r! .40 over race block, 20r head and dual downdraft Webers!

Sweet! The only thing really stopping me right now is the cost of coilovers and not sure how to build the spindles as I've never done anything like that yet. That, and I can rework the beam suspension almost entirely for free if I can remember how my tools all work.
Here's my last project...I KNOW what travel is...just gotta figure how to get it via different method now!

Dang...that's too damn tempting! By the time I'm done cutting and widening a beam that I think looks like crap, lengthing balljoint trailing arms, buying a few rod ends and adapters to REPLACE the balljoints, some quality shocks, and a set of longer springs...I might actually SAVE money by going A-arm. And it just looks SOOO much cleaner.

Question: Is there a reason you settled on 10 degrees rake? Is that pretty typical or is there a gain/loss with different angles? I can understand why they should not be horizontal, but I would think you could absorb a little more impact with using a tad more rake? Maybe?
