I have a crap ton of pictures from the build. What do you want to know about it? I can find all pictures relating to it.

It was BJ car, but framehead is removed and converted to LP. Beam is pushed 6" forward and widened 6". It has 10" towers with wrap around gussets on the spindles, large tierod ends and a center rack. The beam is held in place via beam clamps - very similar to a sand rail.

I will post some pics after work.

Forgot, might as well just link the original build thread:

http://www.azbaja.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=1767.html

It should have everything you need.

Thanks for your input Blaine! I've been super busy with school and work and don't know when I'll be able to get any pictures.

XJ if you still want me to shoot some pics I can probably due it on Saturday or Sunday. Let me know.

James

Finally got my camera so decided to shoot some pics of the baja. I've got a few general shots, and some of the chassis for 90xj. Hope you can still use them. I was out of town last weekend and got my camera yesterday. Thats why I haven't any posted yet. Here it goes...

The mud is mainly from driving to and from work. And a little from going out in the woods a week or so ago. I washed and waxed my Acura Tue. after school. It's so nice to have it clean again. I'd like to wash the baja but it'll just get dirty on Monday. Crying or Very sad

Heres the shots of the chassis.

My next goal is to cover some of the holes in the front firewall/bulkhead (what's the correct term?). In the summer the extra breeze is nice, but today it is in the low 50's and that breeze is not so nice. Got any ideas? I don't think I wanna permanently cover all the holes so I can open them back up in the summer. So welding or riveting thin sheet is out. Maybe some really sticky tape? I was thinking about stuffing some rags or fabric around where the cage goes through just to plug them up easily. Anybody form colder climes than Phoenix have ideas?

James

One of my buddies wanted to go out in the baja today, and I felt like taking it out to. I was thinking nothing serious just some forrest roads and maybe trying to find some open space to play. We were driving out Senator Hwy. which is one of the 3 or 4 main roads that lead to dirt. There is some serious stuff and some mellow stuff out that way. So we get a little ways out and my friend Robert was telling me about this trail that he and our buddy Derek took in his RZR. And I was thinking great, Derek is nuts, if they took it in the RZR there's no way the baja could do it. I asked Robert how gnarly it was, and he said not to bad. He took an '85 Toyota he had that was pretty much stock and didn't get stuck so I thought what the hell.

Anyways the main gate was locked but about 20 feet further there is a semi-legit bypass to get on the trail. We turned there and to get from the by-pass to the main trail was pretty gnarly, heavily rutted and kinda washed out. The baja climbed up it no problem, and I was thinking ok, thats not part of the trail, its gotta get better from here. Was I wrong. It was really skinny, rocky, washed out and AWESOME! The baja did it no problem. I was gonna take my new camera but, I don't have a case for it yet, next week I'll get a case and go back out and get pics. The trail leads up a big hill/small mountain and then loops around the back side. On the back side you can either loop down to the main road or go to a rock quarry. Robert said there was a road that leads from the quarry back onto Senator so it would be easy to get out. We went to the quarry. To get down into the quarry there's a 10-15 tall section of the quarry wall that we had to drive down. It was pretty steep probably about 25º, and really rocky. I was thinking, man I hope we don't have to drive back up that. So we got down into the quarry and played around a little bit. Then decided to head out. There was another trail I wanted to take and we didn't have a lot of time. We drove up the road to the exit onto Senator and what do you know the gate was closed and locked. My first thought was turn the car around hook my tow strap to the gate, around the my engine cage and pull that thing down. That quickly changed when a USFS Law Enforcement officer drove by. Ironically even though we were possibly trespassing (it wasn't marked??) he just drove by. I figured yanking the gate was probably a bad idea at the point. Theres not a lot of bright red bajas in Prescott. We drove back down to the bottom of the quarry and had a look at the hill we had to climb to get back on the trail. It seemed pretty hairy, but Robert convinced me we could do it. So we got in and charged up the hill no problem. It was amazing. I have a lot of faith in the bajas capability and this increased it a ton. Heres a cheesy map. It was a little over two miles to get down to the quarry, and the quarry itself is probably 150 yard across.

The only "problem" was my BFG muds picked up some rocks and threw them off when we got back into town. No damage to the car, but it was startling to have them flinging around around hitting the fenders. I'll remember to check for that next time. Can't wait to do it again.

James

By the way, I bled my brakes and now my line lock doesn't work as well. It will hold but not for a long time. I think it's a Jamar. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

James
