Just a question, how did you mold it?

I saw someone say you used foam?

So did you measure it all, and file on it til it was all pretty?

Very similar to working w/glass. Hardest part is if it is to be exposed..ie clear gell coat, is keeping the weave lines straight on uneven surfaces.

Lookin good man! Hate to get off subject and steal your thread, but I may be interested in doing something with fiberglass down the road as well. I have NO idea what is involved though. Any special tools or equipment I would need? Got a good website that explains the process or anything so I don't completely hijack your thread? lol.

Angle die grinder will save you all the time in the world because there is a lot of sanding. here is a link to jl audios web site they have a great pdf on this page on how to make full fiberglass boxes. even if thats not what your doing the steps are still the same. mobile.jlaudio.com/sup...age_id=140 there is also a pdf that shows how to make custom panels for doors etc. Sorry mg for the thread stealing but this pdf might help you build your console too

just a little warning from experience.....
When sanding 'glas
Don't rub your face, wipe your eyes, scratch your b#lls, until you've wshed your hands, all exposed skin(face, arms)and gotten the dust off completely!

Boy did my eyes hurt!

Glas' is easy, fun, especially if you're making molds off a existing part.

Roth used plaster of paris and newspaper, cardboard, wood, junk...anything to support the plaster. I've made molds/parts of wide eye baja kit, blovebox, wiring cover, some 'vette parts, even RV repair panels. If I can....anybody can.
