ok,so in my quest to have a WAY different but perfectly functional car,i am now building a new dash,it will have a brow over my guages,heat/air vents at each end and dead center above the radio, have a drop down to house my selecter for the hot-cold,speed,and air direction.i started with 2 big blocks of potters foam from hobby lobby made a section as wide as the interior then made the brow above the guage location a dropt section for the a/c controls then rounded all my edges smoothed all the foam out flat then coverd it all in foil and hit it with the "glass" let it cure and trimmed it all up,i think i like it so far,i have about $45 in it,and now i need to do a nuther lyer of fiber cloth and resin, then cut my guage, vent, glove box, radio, and control holes then glass some studs in and mount it....it dont look like much now but i'll go ahead and post some pics tomaro.it still needs ALOT of sanding....anyone ever done anything like this ? have pics ?

That looks like quite the endeavor. Good luck, can't wait to see how it goes.

no prob J/B and yea this is the actual part,it looks like $hit cuz the only resin i could find was old OLD bondo brand, this is only one layer of fiber cloth then i took it off of the mold to trim and moddify the things i didn like fiberglass will warp if u aint real careful so thats where the triming comes in,releaf cuts and such....now i have smoothed the front out and i like the way things are lookn...now i will glass some cedar slats in for bracing.

i dont know why but alot of the ppl i have talkd to hate doin fiberglass but i really like it cuz u can do some really triky stuff with it like my dash for instance i dont have much time or money in it and it fits what i wanted....i really think i am guna go with the candy red carbon on the dash, console, and parts of the door panels.and i am thinking about building an overhead console to how'z some switches or a cell phone cubby hole.
