I have been looking through books and internet sites and have not been able to find help on how to remove the body on my 68 bug. I know it is bolted on but i dont know where the bolts are. and do i have to remove much wiring or any other parts?

There was a post about this a while back. But I'll dust off some brain cells for ya. The bolts are under the car on the outer edge, the battery, ground straps and engine wiring, fuel line, steering column is all there is. Hope I didn't miss anything and if I'm incorrect,,correct me. I think the wiring harness stays in the shell. Good luck and take pics

The book Baja Bugs & Buggies has a section on installing a body lift that may help since you have to remove the body and raise it a bit to get the lift kit in.

The book has been around for quite some time and may even be available in your local library.

yea i have that book "how to keep your vw beetle alive forever for the complete idiot" and i have read through a lot of it and maybe i missed the part on taking off the body.

yo, this is the post( www.azbaja.com/Forums/...t=368.html ). and all your bolts are gonna be all around the side of your pan then rermove the gas tank and you'll find two more under there, then on my irs 74 there's a bolt above each shock mount(not sure about your 68 ).

Ok so the bolts on the right side underneath the car spin but dont come out. i can hear crunching metal inside the car. what do i do to get them out? i need to take off the body.
