OK. This topic comes up from time to time, and I just did this not too long ago. The problem that a lot of guys seem to have is that when they put their 3x3 arms on the rear, they can no longer use their E-brakes because the cable is too short.

I upgraded my rear brakes to disc at the same time I put my 3x3's on, and chose the disc brake kit from So Cal Imports. BTW - they work INCREDIBLY well if anybody is interested. I'd HIGHLY recommend them. Anyway, the disc brake kit came with new brake cables, and of course, they were too short.

I took the cables to a place in Santa Fe Springs called "Control Cables". Remembering an equation from high school Geometry class , I calculated that I would need cables that were about 4-1/4" longer. They cut the inside of my cables out and installed new longer ones for $10.

Of course the outside of the cables (housings) needed to be longer, so I ran down to the local hardware store and found some springs that were the same ID as the little nubs that stick out of the torsion housing and spent another $8. I cut them down, slipped them down over the nubs, and ran the cables as normal through the springs.

They've been working great ever since.

Here's a picture....

It's a little dirty under there. I'm actually one of those guys who uses their bajas!

Hope that helps someone out there.....
