You just reminded me of a question that I have been meaning to ask.

Seriously, I have seen a swingaxle and balljoint hold up to a 2386 in a sandrail that loves to jump.

2386? JEEZ!!! That is monstrous! 2276 was the biggest I have seen in a rail. It was my uncles and man did that thing love to have its nose in the air!

i avoided it cause im just at that age where big isnt big enough! i jumped my solid axle jeep 45 feet and bent both axles now i own a 64 bug with a converted rear to irs with a bus trans and a 3/4 ton jeep Cherokee..... its just one of those things. i want a desert Cadillac.

For driving forestry dirt roads it is fine. Once you go long travel you will never go back. I no longer had to use my floor as part of the suspension. Running first and second gear is ok for a stock suspension third and fourh begin to get interesting in rough terrain.
Stock suspension rail.

Mid travel suspension 3x3 rear arms, one inch longer front arms with about 3 inches of droop I have 17" of ground clearance. For 17 years I made do with this rail's basically stock suspension. Swing axle, limited down traveland dual shocked with a stock link pin front end.

I am all ready planning more suspension for next year.

Nice looking rails perrib! Here is my old stock suspension rail. Had an 1835dp with a dellorto 40. That thing was a blast! Mine is the one in the front of the picture. My old man's is the red one in the pic. It is currently running mid-travel with 3x3s and a turbo-ed subaru with an 091.

Thanks. Now picture yours with 3"x5" rear arms and 4" longer front arms. Short wheel base go anywhere rail.
