May i ask a question regarding wiring.



Do you really need the voltage regulator?????



Can i hook everything up without it??

SURE! If you want to "smoke test" your wire harness and electro's. Shocked

Especially if your running a generator. At high rpm's I believe they can produce a fair amount of juice, WELL above 6 or 12 volts, (depending on your setup) w/o.
Most new altenators have a regulator built in. If your running an altenator, check the manufacturer to be sure.

Absolutely keep the regualtor in the circuit if the answer is no to any of the above.

Whats the differece between an alternator and a generator.

Well here is what i have, i believe its internal regulated, if not let me know

On the second pic the bottom bolt has a B+

The upper thingy has a D

You have an internally regulated alternator there. All you have to do is run the B+ wire to the battery and the small spade terminal to the idiot light.

Yeah Thanks Zyla! It appears - I'll double check IDing the square wall mounted gizmo - my Baja has both an internally regulated alternator AND a separate reg.!!!!! BTW Zyla, I just stripped the entire car ( still need to remove windshield & front fenders), and need to have it blasted. Recommend anybody?
