This is how it was when I bought it (note the wire nuts!) The tail lights and the engine were just as bad.
I started at the tail lights and have been working my way forward, replacing all the wire nuts and butt connestors with solder and heat shrink.
Now what is in the photo is all I have to do.

Nice hangar! Is it yours or where you work? I'm in aviation myself, so just thought I'd ask...

Oh, and my '59 looks like spaghetti under the hood too, so I feel your pain! However, I have been using butt splices to clean mine up some, as I lack the time, talent and motivation to solder each and every one.

Thanks I just work there. Butt splices are ok as long as they are crimped right, most of these you can pull apart very easy.

Sure you didn't shoot a pic of my hood? Smile
btw soldering is pretty easy, just don't solder to hot and don't let the hars (is that English?) burn. Use a little tin and wait until it floads over your wires then pull away the solderiron (again is this English?) immedialtly. Most people tend to solder to hot and keep the solderiron on their workpiece to long so the isolation starts to melt.

You have my sincere sympathies RoadRunner. I recommend beer (lots), dykes (the tool kind), and several good yanks (the pulling kind). Looks nice on the outside though.
