i was wondering on what you would have to do if you just bought a running decent bug and you wanted to turn it in to a baja.
what parts would you need and what would you have to do to it to make it baja bug worthey.

yeah i saw that before.
what does it take to lift it to get lift and what not.
i dont think that you can just put big tires on a bug or can you.

I dont have any front end lift with 28"s, plenty of travel. I got 31"s out back, and have max swing axle lift (dont know exact how much splines its turned) But max without making your tires all gay.

I would get a good brand 1 piece front end, and do the front stock steel fenders on your rear end like the green azbaja bug article (cant find it for hte life of me).

Thats a 350 doller 1pc front end and a free rear fenders.

Sure beats 6-7pc kit for ~400-500 and im guesing its alot nicer to have a 1pc front end! I dont like my 4pc front end very much(nose cone, hood, fenders)!

a/c and heater is for wusses! LOL JK. But I never use a/c or heater (jeep and toyota had no A/C, and never used heater) and it goes form 10 to 115 degrees here.

Mine is a $30 set of fenders, a $10 nosepiece and a stock hood cut down. The rear is lifted one spline and the front is stock. Here is a before and after. The rears are 31x10.5/15 and the fronts are 235's. This took a few weeks, but that includes an all new pan under it. A mostly stock Baja with some lift on the back and some tires can do fun and wonderful things.

Cheap and easy. You should be able to find a MUCH better starting point than I had. Good luck and give it a shot.

Take off tire, (i found it easier to remove shock), take off 3 bolts from spring to axle, slowly lower spring plate (jack), and and pull it off, turn it clockwise and jack it back up, put against the lip and bolt springplate back to axle.....

THats just a crappy writeup, go to google.com and find some good write-ups!

There is a good write up on here on how to do it, just explore some with the search and buy the Jeff Hibbard book, it is a wealth of info, though some of the stuff is outdated. Here is a link to the book.
