Its all in pieces (I didnt split the case though). Anything I should do? Cheap recommendations? Or SHOULD do's? I am doing new gaskets on everything for sure, maybe new pushrod tubes/seals, etc!
I also noticed my rings are in good shape but i have low compression (60 70 80 and 0 in the one that has a bent valve(yikes my piston has a indent where it hit but its not real bad). I know my cylinder walls need to be honed. Could that be why I got low compression? (they got slight rust stuff inside from sitting)

I don't know what size engine you have, but if you have the heads off already, I would usually change the jugs and pistons, too. They're not very expensive. I would also spend a few hours porting the heads. That's pretty much free if you have a Dremel and it can make a BIG difference in power. Now's the time for that MILD carb upgrade, if you don't have one already. That way you can match mort the intake manifolds, too. If you have a 1600 (1584cc), I'd buy 87mm P/C's and bump it to a 1641. It's not much of a jump, but worth doing. Check your lifters for wear, both at the bore and at the cam side. DON"T GET THEM MIXED UP THOUGH!!! Put them EXACTLY back where you found them. Take a flashlight and check the cam lobes inside the case. If you really want to know what's going on, you can pull your rod bearings and inspect them, too. It there's rust in the cylinders, there's probably some inside the bearings, too. Of course, there are some things in life that you'd rather not see, too.... (Like your grandma naked). It's one of those things that will plague you later if you don't tear into it now though. Every time your engine hiccups, you'll kick yourself in the rear and wish you had checked those things. Make sure you measure the clearance for wear between them and the crankshaft while you're in there that deep, too.

Check your crankshaft end play when you have it all back together.

That's my 2¢.

I am def. porting and polish them.

I dont have 200 bucks for a 87mm P/C. I think ill just port and polish my exhaust and polish my intake. I heard exhaust porting is were its at, if done right.

Did you have the choke and throttle plate wide open while doing the test. If you are careful you can remove a rod without splitting the case and see if the bearings are ok.

No you said you had it at idle when doing the compression test. Compression with the engine running or throttle and choke plates close will always read lower. 0 reads 0 no matter what.

so give it full throttle for a short period of time to get a correct reading? I had it at idle.

And yes 0 was from a bent intake valve.

Compressions test are made with the ignition disconnected and choke and throttle held open. When you said it was at idle it meant the engine was running.

I will paint my cylinders, and sandblast/P&P my heads, I got some newer valves/v. springs on some other heads.

What about $150? If you were an AzBaja paying member, you could get them for $135.

Save up. It'll be worth it. If you don't do it now, you'll be bummed later when you have to take it all apart again and do it anyway. If there is rust in the cylinders, you'll never get the rings to seat properly. You wanted advice, right? You've got to trust me on this one.

Why go 1641 and not 1776?

I do shop on chirco, everytime for major stuff (sometimes i run to the local bug shop to get little stuff).

I really only have 100 bucks to finish this motor.

It looks like rings are going to have to do. If the rust has not pitted where the rings seal, they should seal.
