Hi,
I had plans to do a little rebuild on my Baja this winter but because of the low dollar I'm thinking about trying something else.
Perhaps you guys can help a little.

I want to look over the possibilities to ship a Baja from the US to Holland.
I want to sell my van and hope to get somewhere between 6 or 8k for it.
Than I will sell my Baja which should go for at least 2.5k that's Euro's so about 12k $ in total for baja and shipping. That should get me something I guess.
Perhaps a little less because I need some extra's to get it streetlegal, we have some stupid rules here. But that would probably not be more than a few hundred.

What I would like to do in this thread is to get a list of stuff that should be on it. To start:

Rollcage
Wide axle on front (which)
IRS
3x3 rearaxle
linkpin (?)
flipfront or bugeye
Engine??
Double tubed bumpers (I have them on mine now and can exchange them)
Must have windows (not tinted, illegal in Holland)
shocks (?) I want it high!
Bodylift (?)
Color (for my girlfriend :))
Tires (?)
Brakes (disc?)
Wheeladapters are illegal in Holland

Please ad anything that comes in mind.
I want to have a list and than find something that come's closest to it and doesn't have to much milage and isn't used to much off road (yet, hahaha!)
It will probably take some time before I sold my van.

I look forward to your suggestions, thanks.

just been browsing around, something like this would be nice Smile

I would think you should be able to find a Baja like the one in your link for ~10k. It costs more to build than to buy one, and if someone is motivated it would be an easy buy.

As far as your list, 6" wider beam w/2 1/2" x 1" trailing arms pushed out ~4" is the norm. For your budget, think aftermarket or custom link pin stuff.

That baja has a huge Body lift on it. Your still about 15" to 20" off the ground. not sure what size ture he is running.

What does this mean? All thise numers confuse me Embarassed

Linkpin is preffered above balljoints right?
What I'm a bit worried about is the compatibilty of aftermarket with stock.
Because aftermarket stuff might not be available here easily.
Or am I overworried?
When I break something I'm afraid it will not be able to repair fast with parts not available here in Holland. Stockparts are easy to get.

The blue one I linked as an example is perhaps a bit to clean right?
It's beautifull but a car like that is easily damaged when going off road.

Just some thoughts....

2 1/2 x 1 trailing arms are 2 1/2" longer and 1" wider for more travel. (and your increased height) The beam pushed out ~4" is what most builders do to increase the wheelbase (for stability and ride) and also to clear the tires and the body w/longer trailing arms (since the arc of the tires is bigger with a longer radius)

Quality aftermarket trailing arms are hard to break, so you should never hurt them unless hit some large im-movable objects. The stock spindles with gussets are oftain used to save $ over combo spindles.

If you look at the pictures of my car, you will see the front end and rear end that is common. Just not the best pictures for details. (Bugzylla's secrets) The next pictures may actually have paint on it also.

The blue one looks nice and appears quite stout, but many feel a baja without scratches is not a baja.
