Hi everyone I'm a new member, from Prescott, AZ. Sunday July 20 I was riding home from a friends birthday party and saw an awesome baja for sale. It was sitting in the old Shuttle U parking lot (for those who are familiar with Prescott), on the corner of Ruth and Whipple.
We stopped to have a look and I think it was a 78 or 79, it was a white/beige color, clean interior and engine, ummm if I remember right they wanted $3800. It did not have bumpers or side bars, very clean looking. I had a few drinks at the b-day party and we did not have a pen in the car to right down the phone #.
Does this baja sound familiar???? I knew I should have gone down a little while latter, but couldn't drive due to the b-day libations. If anyone has info (phone #, where it can be found or whatever) about this beautiful baja please let me know. I'm very interested... Or if you have a baja for sale I would be interested in that too. Thank you, have a good one.

Hey az350x thanks for the reply. I've got my friends and family looking... If I could I'd put out a dragnet! It's quite elusive there have been like 4 or 5 sightings but no one has been able to get any contact info . Im determined though.
Did you happen to see the other one that was out in Paulden?? Heres a link.
prescott.craigslist.or...80508.html
The pic isn't that great, it looks kinda rough, but can't tell if its the car or pic.
Heres what the dude emailed back.

sounds good but what do i know. seems like you should go and look at it and if it is good then go and get it and check her out. and what not.
if it seems good buy it you probably could negoitate the price a little to. and you could do some stuff to it to.

Fast_1 -
I sent you a PM, if you are looking for a great car, mine might fit your bill. I have done A LOT of work to the car and I am in a tight spot - which means, it has to go. I truly don't want to sell, but until I get past my predicament, the car will be for sale.

Yes, the red baja
I still have my street bug too, but the Red baja is the most liquid. I'm trying my hardest to keep it(haven't thrown around the For Sale sign, been avoiding that part), but if I do have to sell it, I will be quick to grab another to build up - figures. Its "For Sale" to good friends, but to the public, I will be very picky to find a good owner.
I will not be getting rid of all my equipment though (I just got a ProTools bender with 1.5" and 1.75" dies). And of course, I have my street car that I will continue to build upon.

fast 1- the one you posted from Paulden seems kinda pricey to me based on the pic and the info supplied. Looks a little rough for that kinda dough. I haven't been watching prices- are gas prices causing VW prices to go wayyy up? Since there are so many newer cars getting wayyy better mpg than old carbureted VWs these days, it doesn't seem to me like the prices should be too affected for buyers. Then again, you can't buy a newer economy car for 2-3 g's either...
I'd really recommend looking at Blaine's car if you can.

NP.
Danjones, I can post a link to my old build thread from last year( Old Build Thread), but I am currently talking with fast_1 about the car(he gets priority). I am asking $4000 for the baja to the general 'public' but will accept offers from any AzBaja Member and roll with it. The old thread is outdated, since then I have finished the front bumper and pulled the 1835 that was in it and put a fairly fresh 1600 DP w/ dual webers. The rear bumper was sold and I need to build the new one - have all the metal, just no time. There are lots of little odds and ends I need to finish up, but the car is drivable and thrashable as it sits.
I just want the car to go to someone who will:
1. Drive it like they stole it
2. Keep it off the trailer queen list
3. Continue to build on it where I left off
Simple as that
Blaine
Below are the specs I sent to fast_1:
Quote:: |
Quick overview:
67' Baja - Red, fully caged and tubed front to back. Beam is pushed 6" and stretched 6", center mount rack. Converted to linkpin front, rear is Swing, but i have everything for conversion (arms, tranny, axles). It has a rare 1-piece hood (high mount race hood) Matching red suspension seats, quick disconnect steering wheel. 22 Gallon fuel cell in package tray. Transmission is race ready, with close ratio 3rd and 4th, and welded gears. Motor is a fresh 1600 DP(<5kmiles). Motor: Big Valve heads, single highrev springs, Dual Weber 40's and 009 Dizzy w/ Petronix. Alternator and lots of chrome. Spray lined the front firewall and began undercoating the pan and rear tray area to deaden sound. Also started painting the cage Hammered Grey. - (updated 07/24/08)
