I love the monsoon, everything about it. And as it concerns the baja....

MUD!

Gotta love it. The offroad area by my work has a string of foot deep mudruns, with about 4 inches of water on top after all the pummeling rains this week. The 4WD guys churn it up pretty good!

I did a little recon today after work for a weekend romp with some Army buddies and hier quads and trucks. It's ON.

I didn't dare blast through the big pits without a tow 4WD there, but skipped along the sides...although, you have a tendency to be sucked in as the front end plows. I didn't get stuck, though. About 4,000 RPM and some quick decisions kept me moving!

Bad news - my rear (front? LOL) main seal is junk. Pulling the engine tommorow night so I can run Saturday. It got so bad, the clutch was slipping on the way home from all the oil on the flywheel.

Jeff

WOOHOO!

I had mud in my hair after today's 30 minute adventure - about 10 minutes of which were mud involved.
I guess it's the downside of having no windows. I guess I could have rolled up my door windows, but what the hell.

My floorboards were an inch deep in water!

Bajas can do mud. You know, the 4WD guys get all pissy when you skip across a 3 foot deep mudpit at full bore, with a running start. Problem is, if you lose speed (or if any number of other mishaps occur...) you are STUCK!

But at least a baja is easy to winch out.

Trust me, I know!

Jeff

Mud is fun until you get stuck or have to clean it off.

OK, we got SOAKED with rain last night. Holy cow, what a lot of mud!

So I went out again today for a quick romp before I pull the engine to fix my blown front seal. Is this better? Twisted Evil

Sick, indeed.

Man, you NEED to drop that Jeep idea, dan. These things are just too fun.
