Hey guys & gals,
I was wondering if anyone has used this stuff from: www.safestrustremoval.com ?
If so, does it work?
I got a couple places I can't get to with sand paper or grinder and I don't want to let it go on.

$25 a gallon. and up. Depending on how much you need. Says you can recycle it until it no longer works. They say you can filter the particles from it and keep on using it. Plus, it "supposedly" won't hurt the environment or pluming so you can pour it down the drain when it wears out.

I could see it working on surface rust. Not pitting or serious rust.

A little of both, surface and pitted. Seems to me one or more of the videos show some serious pitted rust getting "washed away".
I'll get some and see. I was just wondering if any of yous guys tried it.

Very Happy
Well folks, it works.
I've been running it over some pretty rusted doors and it's clearing the rust away. Cool
Problem is keeping odd sized/shaped areas wet until the rust is gone.
I tried using a pump from a desktop water feature but it doesn't have enough umph to pump to the top of the doors. I'll have to look for a better pump.

I was looking at buying some for small parts. How did you catch the runoff from the door?

I built a troff about 3" high, 5" wide and 40" long and lined it with plastic. Set the door inside the troff upright which allowed the bottom 2 or so inches of the door to be submerged. I then dropped the pump and ran a hose up the door and hung it with a small chain. The natural curvature of the hose allowed me to direct the flow. The fluid just ran down the door back into the troff.
Although this idea sounded good in my head, I needed to build a troff bigger and much deeper. Unfortuneately I had only 1 gallon of the stuff so I was forced to keep it as small as possible.

Small parts should be easy compared to a door.

Like you found out it needs to soak. A flexible hose with holes drilled and attached to suction cups should keep a larger area it wet. HF has it sometimes for $20.00. The more rust the longer it takes. My old boss tried a small swimming pool filled with phosporic acid to clean larger body parts. Google rust removal electrolysis. This also works you need, the more consumable electrodes the faster it works. I tried the Safer and electrolysis (dirt cheap) and Sandblasting is still the quickest. Muratic acid is another story in itself. Fast and very dangerous and may not be legal for this use. Drag car builders used to dip new car bodies in them to remove metal to lighten them but still call them stock for drag racing.

What media/grit do you use for light and or heavy rust? Where do you buy it?
Thanks.

Sandblasting quickest,,,,,,,hhhhmmm I guess so but man does it leave a mess. Even inside the booth I made, the media still finds it's way out.
Yet, I'm still going that route when I get the body painted. I'm not going to waist any more time ordering the fluid and building a bigger tub/trough for the doors.
Just gonna blast them and be done with it.
