cut and turned front axle, primed it, painted it, looks great and works great.... on the right side. Wink or maybe its the left....

WAS CUT AND TURNED 1/4" (.25")

the left side is a crap load stiffer than the right. I jump on the left, it goes down, and the car hops up about an inch. (very stiff and springy). jump on the right side, the car sags, comes up very spunky like, but doesn't jump off the ground. both sides DO NOT sag when cars weight is on.

Sum it up:

Left - very springy
Right - not so springy

Where is my problem? Left or right side, and why?

How old are the leaves, where/are they in good shape?

Without shocks what does it do? Maybe a shock is binding? Along the same thought as BugZ was headed down... Maybe you have a bent component in your K/L set-up that's binding? Maybe oneof your arms is bent inside the housing and binding? Start taking things off and try to isolate it to a specific component.

Shocks are off.

When cutting and turning, I removed everything.

When reinstalling, i put the torsion leaves back in place followed by the trailing arms.

when reinstalling the trailing arms, on both sides i had to use motorcycle straps to pull them up enough to fit in the breaks.

both sides felt like they needed the same amount of power to pull them up...

i did the left side first - the ones that's stiffer...

Thanks for all in the input, a lot of the ideas are saying it's "binding" i feel like the stiffness isn't a "binding stiffness" but a higher preload... It's not 'binding stiff' i don't think...

You probably have a bad balljoint. If you just put the old balljoints back in one or more is most likely worn and can have a bad spot that could cause it to be stiff.

That could be too..

I dont suspect it to be anything binding or causing friction though. It just feels like the preload is a lot higher than it should be.

Are we looking into the wrong issue? Is the left side normal? and the right side is not as preloady as its stupose to be?

I'll get to the bottom of this soon. Any help is greatly appreciated. Smile

Opps, just remembered.

i was playing with all the balljoints before i put it together... so that rules that out unless things change with balljoints when their under pressure.

Did you do put new beam bushings in, when welded back together is it perfectly straight? Just asking, can't see it so have to ask questions.

Take it apart piece by piece and check each part as you take it off, if not found go to the next, if you get it all apart and see no problems switch the sides the torsions are on and see if it switches sides.

Yeah.

I think i'm going to let it be for a while, see if it fixes it's self. HAHA

If it doesn't, when i finish this task i'm working on now, i'll de-assemble it, and try and find the problem.

I'll be sure to let you all know what the issue is (if i find it).
