PROJECT UPDATE- well, we started tearing into it some more today.

REAR-
Removed the axles, stubs, and one of the old 3x3 arms. Have a boogered-up bolt on the right side that prevented us from getting the right arm all the way off the car. Gonna take the sawzall to that bolt tomorrow so we can get it off. Got the pivot bushing situation figured out- no problem. Just reusing what I had- they fit perfectly.

Have a little springplate-fit issue, but think we have a plan for that. Gonna clean up the old 3x3s tomorrow and get them listed on a couple sites.

FRONT-
Removed the wheels, drums, shocks, spindles, and then the beam. Today, pulled the fuel tank off so I can clean up the front end some while it's apart. I want to put some herculiner on the front end and a couple of other small projects.

Here's my Warrior beam with my new 2 1/4 x 1 trailing arms. I'm thinking about having the beam powdercoated, but can't decide on the color. My buddy wants me to do it hammered silver to match the bumpers, sidebars, and rear trailing arms. I was just thinking gloss black. Any input???

Last, for now, here's a pic of one of my front tires with one of the SACO hubs on it. I was just curious if it fit right and how it was gonna look. Pretty cool, I think.

$500 for the 3x3's and disc brakes (rotors, calipers). The arms are powdercoated, and boxed construction. Appear to be thicker wall than others you see around. Also, a little wider at the end by the CV, as my 930 CVs fit with more clearance around them than most. I'm a WEE BIT negotiable on the price, but not much. I intended to have them on TOS and CL by now, but haven't gotten it done yet. The nice thing is that they're all tabbed up already for these calipers, etc. so it's a bolt-on mod.

Oh- and the bearing carriers come with, but no stubaxles.

Yeah- I can't WAIT to get it done!

It does pretty well for a DIY product. I put it inside my car- heater channels and the tunnel. Looks kinda cool. I bought it at Checker.

My floor is polished diamond plate- no carpet (I have to wear earplugs when I drive it!). The tunnel and heater channels were visible, so I brushed it on there. I also did my rear cargo area with it. It's hard to clean when dusty though without just hosing it off.

Sorry to get this topic off-topic:

but that was my concern with it.. Does it make cleaning a baja easier or harder after a day of dust dirt and grime?

UPDATE- Took the beam over to Bajawarrior's this afternoon and he welded the mounting brackets on for me. Tomorrow, before I leave town, the beam and Tweed arms go to the powdercoater. The beam is going to be hammered-silver like my rear arms and all my bumpers, and the front trailing arms will be gloss black. I pulled the spring packs out and the adjusters, so it's ready to go.

Next week's plans- Herculiner the front end, finish assembling the rear arms and brakes and hopefully get the rear end back on it's wheels on the ground. Then, the front end project REALLY begins!

Picked up the beam from the powdercoater today. Bajawarrior is due over on Sunday afternoon with his cutter and welder and ZIP!- off goes the frame head!

Here's the beam-

Here's the frame head-

We've also got to extend the front cage, steering column and modify the front bumper (hood pins) to make it all work with the extended length.

I bought them used from the guy I bought my SACO hubs and Wilwood brakes from. Since they were already tabbed for the rear calipers, I decided to buy them and make it "bolt on". I'm told they're Chenowth chromoly 3x3s, and I had them powdercoated a couple weeks ago- same place that did the beam.
