I am not able to make it either (being that I have a baja, and a case now machined for 94's, but waiting for my new crank to come in)

I have been quiet lately because I am getting frustrated with the situation on my baja. Been close to just throwing in the towel lately..... Just getting expensive and this motor rebuild is not helping the situation with the CEO here. I had big plans for my street car, so I have a bunch of parts new sitting in my garage and now looking at $800 in parts for the motor. Kinda hard to get the wifey to understand: she sees "A bunch of money spent on parts for 68 Sedan and sitting there, and NOW i need another 800 or so for the baja" - anyway. I am hoping to have this thing all together as soon as my crank gets back to me.

Blaine

I'm feelin' ya, been there done that. I'm trying to build two Bajas, a street car and a old pickup this summer. Did I mention that's looking for a new job? Rolling Eyes

Mrs. Bajawarrior took over 90 pics, so I'm sure they will be showing up at some point on here. Ken "Klwdesign" had his video camera AND he even had a hood-mounted camera that he shot some video with. It'll be interesting to see that.

And yes, it was fantastic!! We met up around 7:00, and were just loading up at about 11:45. We had a pretty good time, although it was dusty! When I pulled out on Bush Highway heading home, and got up through about 40 mph, I almost choked from all the dust blowing around in my car! It was way worse than when we were actually on the trail- go figure. My car is DIRTY inside and out now. Mine ran MUCH better than on the night run (I suppose putting all the pieces IN your carb probably helps some), and aside from some pesky oil leaks, I'm real happy with the way it's running/driving.

We had a couple mechanical issues on the run (go figure- a bunch of Volkswagens- it's only a matter of WHEN, right?)- Preston's coil decided it didn't like being attached to the engine any more (twice, actually), and Ken's brake pin fell out once, fortunately it was NOT on one of the several STEEEEEEP descents we made. Scott and Preston each blew and axle seal, and that's about it I guess.

Oh- and it took EVERY OUNCE of restraint in me not to TOTALLY DOG Preston today, after the night run. Nuff said. Rolling Eyes Laughing

Kim has exactly 100 pictures, a lot of me being broken or stuck of course, seemed to be the theme of this trip, "HOW CAN PRESTON HOLD EVERYONE BACK NOW!?" ok so before everyone takes advantage of my disadvantages heres how my day went:

had to turn around... Got stuck
went to climb a hill... lost the coil
CLIMBED THE HILL... lost the coil again
Finished... i decide "Hey i've climbed that hill 3 times before, it'll be nothin!"

almost to the top of the climb and... POP!... right out of gear, while the words going through my head are a little much for this "Family Oriented site" you could probably guess what they were, so here i am rolling down the hill backwards praying i don't roll it, AND WHATYA KNOW! got her stuck in the middle of the hill! Cool so since everyone is gonna rag on me till the end of time, you will see in the pics when they are posted that a WOMAN helped me out!

ALRIGHT laugh it up!

i had fun, got burnt, choked on dust, But MAN! Red White and Brew burgers are good!

Thanks for the referance Kim!

K i'm going back to bed! i'm pretty much gone right now anyway Rolling Eyes

Bajawarrior will have pics up soon!

I'm glad you guys has a blast.

I put roll cage padding in my car to make myself feel better. They were out of blue, so I had to settle for yellow. Nothing went right today! LOL

I did, however, have a treat. On the way home from Chirco, I stumbled on a small drive-in car show of sorts at Speedway and Swan (I think...)

There were a bunch of sandrails, but best of all, a real (super awesome) Class 5 race car - man, that thing had it all. It was truly inspiring. And humbling.

I need to get with T_town and get my cage and frame upgrades done ASAP.

I don't think any of you guys saw (since I was the last one coming up that last big hill), but halfway up that last one with the big holes in it, RIGHT in the holes, my driver's door flew open! I had to stop since I had to go through a notch in the hill, and I figured I was SCREWED. Anyway, I decided to just go for it after closing the door, and I made it up without much problem at all.

What a relief that was!

Ok, first of all today was UNBELIVEABLE!!!!! Very long run but so much fun, even a gila monster came out to say hello (see pics). And yes let me get the trash talking done right off the bat, yes we were spending a considerable amount of time helping Preston, (Preston just kidding you did awesome) if it wasn't you it would have been someone else we all know how vw's are. I did take 99 photos, of couse it would take forever to load them all on here so I am posting a link below to go directly to PhotoBucket.com and all the pics are there. We can't wait till the next run and would love to see the Tucson guys as well!!!

We got back home around 2:30 and was able to take a shower and leave again and it is 10:30 and just got home. We are EXHAUSTED!!!

P.S. to Lee (BugTwo) your car did AWESOME, thanks for letting us use it until ours if finished. The only thing that went wrong is that pesky wheel axle seal is leaking on the driver's side now, not the passenger like last time.

Who's blue baja? The front bumper looks familiar, but I can't place the rest of the car...
Looks like a fun time was had by all.
