Since I am new to this forum, I thought i'd introduce myself. My name is Wayne, I am fairly new to the Baja/VW scene, moved here about 6 months ago. I am a west sider (Surprise) and have a project that is finally starting to move. Its a 69 fiberglass buggy that will soon have long travel and suby power. (once escrow closes on my Cali house) I plan on making it street legal but will mostly use it to bash through the desert.

I have a few questions for locals. 1) Where is the cheapest/best place to buy sheet metal and roll cage tubing? 2) Since I bought a 110v welder, my roll cage will be fabricated by myself, tacked with my welder, but I want a fab shop to finish with a 220v welder. Any recommendations? 3) Anyone on the west side willing to give advice on cage building and suspension setup?

Here are a few pics of before and after I started hacking it

Welcome. You will find much helpful input on this site. I was wondering what the two extra levers near your parking brake were? I knew a guy that made his own steering brakes using the parking brake cables, and was still able to use his parking brake.

Can someone tell me a good place in phoenix to purchase roll cage tubing and floor pan sheet metal. Also, any fab shops on the west side of town?

I go to industrial metal supply at 48th and Broadway. Tempe/Phoenix border.
