I just bought a one piece baja nose, rear fenders and an engine cover from PONCHO, (ebay). The Tilt Nose is probably workable (althoght seems too wide) the engine cover is too small, to make it fit I would have to mount it 1/2 way down the louvers, and the rear fenders are way too big. The curve is way off. My baja is a 1969. Any one have a similar problem?
Thanks.

I have never heard of the poncho kit. If its out of San Diego its probably cut rate fiberglass off of a cheap mold.

It is not too bad quality. Yes it is out of San Diego. I am trying to get in touch with them to see what the deal is. I paid $360. for all, shipping included.

sounds like the normal kit fit problems. You might have to mount one end of the fenders, bend to the correct fit(may require relief cuts in the flange) and mount the other end.
The nose usually needs to be ground down inside the area that will mount up to the cowl.
Engine cover is individual taste.

Bugzyla is probably referring to how many generations old this kit is. IE;somebody buys a kit, makes molds off it, sells a set, somebody else makes molds and pieces off that knockoff. Each generation results in slight differences in size, either too large or too small.

Yep thats the one. The fiberglass is real thin on those. I have one and its pretty flimsy.

I talked to the company and he is more than willing to exchange them. I told him I would take photos and send them in the morning. I passed on your suggestion about releif cuts and trying to fit them. He said that if I did that and they still did'nt fit, he will still take them back. The engine cover is just too damn short. Nothing I can do with that. It would look really silly 1/2 way down the louvers. Then the fenders would have to be lower in the rear also. Thanks for your imput guys.

Last night I took Sarge's advice and notched the rear fenders (only needed 2 ) and the rear fenders will fit fine. I really had to bend them but they look good. Thanks

didn't know I'd made some stripes...woohoo.
fyi...you will definitely want to either use fender washers or a strap of some sort where you did those relief cuts. If the fender washers won't fit due to the curvature of the fender, try some of the washers used for the bolts that attach the body to the pan...look underneath...see those channel shaped washers? OR...those washers under the gas tank mounting bolts work well too.
You'll also want to consider running a extra ground wire from any light mounted to the fiberglass parts. 14ga. with a blue or red eyelet crimp connector, from the light mounting bolt to the body. Scrub off the undercoat with gas or kerosene(smoker?)...drill a 1/8" hole, bare metal to bare metal attachment with a self tapping sheet metal screw. You can do it real neat like by looping it with the tail light wiring. Just a thought....

I ran into a similar situation with the kit I got from Bug Stuff. The rear fenders will not fit, though I am still in the early body mods to get to that point but when I got them in I put the rear fenders up and I got the same thing. I feel better knowing the trick to get them to fit.
These vendors need to take a better look at what the hell there selling us especially with them copying kits and all.

Thanks for the post.

I predrilled 5 holes in the fender flange and used hex head sheet metal screws. After they are all in then you can use whatever means to permanently attach the fender. When you put the first bolt/screw in the rear (I lined the rear of the fender up with the engine cover so that it would be straight looking at the car from the rear end) Then have a second person hold the fender to the proper radius and screw it on to the body. Just work your way around one screw at a time (carefully) and you will have a perfect fit. It worked out really well.
