Hello Everyone,
Found the site while surfing Google. Lots of good info and seams like nice people. Couldn't help but join.

I just picked up a 68 bug with a 1500. Lots of rust and the engine doesn't currently run but for $175 I can't complain.

Has all the glass, pop out windows and some cool rims.

Plan on adding fiberglass baja fenders, hood and bug eye kit. Jacking it up and getting some 31" mud terrains for it. Sprint bars and single tube bumpers. Not sure what I am gonna do for a roll cage but will be a minimum 4 point.

Once i get it runny reliably i am up for driving anywhere. I mapquested bajawarrior's house for his BBQ, but that was 1 day, 1 hour - 1607 miles. so i don't see any Az meets anytime soon but moses lakes is not out of the question. I will frequent reiter pit a lot which is on the way there.

i got the rear fenders off yesterday and just for giggles i mounted up one baja fender. not sure on how to cut out the rear section yet but it doesn't even run yet so i got time to learn.

Welcome aboard! I hope you hang with us with your project and beyond!!!

There seems to be lots of you Washington guys showing up lately. Still not much luck finding like-minded SoCal bajas though.

Yesterday morning I the pulled plugs and they were really fowled so i cleaned them a little bit with sandpaper. (Store not open that early)
Pulled cap and rotar, both had a lot of build up so again a little sanding.
Points had a lot of build up so I did a little bit of sanding there too.
Poured a little gas down the carb touched the red wire to a pair of vise grips acting as an ignition and it sputtered.
now the store was open so i went and bought some plugs. Came back and it sputtered a little more.
My Landlord just so happened to be next store and heard me messing around and had a can of starter fluid. A little squirt and it would fire up then die out pretty quick.
We start looking around and figure out it aint getting any gas. Sad Pull the pump did a little clean job and threw it back on.

Today I just finished wiring in a toggle / push button starter combo, did a little carb priming and then ran a line straight from the fuel pump to a gas can behing the car and it fired right up.

Both lights went out on the dash and it idled like a champ.

What a rewarding feeling knowing that the motor runs.
Now i am really getting excited. Very Happy
