Ditch- for the $$$ you've got invested, that is a SHARP baja. Great find, and looking forward to seeing more of the mods along the way!

Yesterday I went over to Blaine's house (T_Town_Baja), and we did some more work.
He very generously helped me out with the installation of my one-piece front end, and I picked up some 5" front wheels with 7.00 x 15 tires from him.
Wow, what a difference. It looks like a different car! I really picked up some clearance, too. I'll need new front tires, but that will come.
We removed all the old baja kit pieces, (hood, fenders, front cap) and fitted the front end.
We didn't go so far as to cut out the whole trunk, because I wanted to keep the stock fuel tank for now. I am doing this in steps, really.
We had to beat the trunk sides in with a big hammer, but got it on there. Then welded 4 nuts into the body, and welded on a front support.
Then, made brackets for the headlights and installed them. They are the buckets which fit stock headlight bulbs, it worked great.
Next comes widening the beam 9as in adding a Warrior 6" over).
The old Baja kit and the former wheels and tires will be on the "for sale" forum.
Jeff

good work, I'm a bit envious. I hope I don't have to raid my kid's piggy bank to keep up with you. I dig the location of the tailights too. I don't know if that would work for me though because I have the cowl. are you putting some graphics on it or just race stickers?

Just a bunch of race stickers....but I was considering a fake "sponsorship" logo or something, like Tecate (favorite South of the Border beer) or something like that. I suppose Daryll could whip something up.
I am goint to add 2 more lights on the engine cage inboard of the existing ones. The little turn signals will then go up front.
Anyone know where to get SCORE stickers? I need a bunch of VW related stickers, actually...Help!!
I sawzalled the front fenders today, and yesterday my 9 year old daughter adorned the hood with her made up cartoon charachter with a black paint marker....
"Super Dude".
I like it!

Today I decided windows are for suckers. I removed them. I left the door wings, though, for now for ventilation.
I fabbed an aluminum plate for the driver's side window opening to eventually mount my fuel cell filler neck. Copied the idea off a class 5 race car I saw.
I also did a "Microsoft Paintbrush" cut and paste of how I want the car to look, sort of. Added stickers and stuff....
Hmmmm.
And after the 3x3 setup! ( LOL)

No, not bored.
I was experimenting with how to put everything together. I don't intend to just slap a bunch of stuff on there.
I don't suppose it would be appropriate when the guy doing my vinyl graphics asks things like, "how big?" and so on, and I say, "....uh, I don't know...."
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right....right?

Painted on some checkerboard graphics today, I plan to add a "swipe" in some undecided color tomorrow...probably silver.
I am going to add contingency stickers. I went tire shopping today. Man. 400 bucks for 4 tires...but they are good ones!
Here are some progress pics.
