can anyone tell me in full detail just about every nut and bolt and bushing and bearing that i would need to do a 3x3 conversion?

i'ld like to have something to shoot for but get it done right the first time.

any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

good times,
jeff

I've heard some good things about the Beanie Boy kit- I believe it's fairly complete. You plan on going all the way with bus trans and 930 CVs now, or wait until later?

Chirco has a 930 CV kit (different kits for different gearboxes), and then you buy the 3x3 arms from them. Should be pretty much everything you need.

NOT cheap- but you probably already knew that, right? Laughing

Seems like you're going to need to upgrade from T1 CV's in order to benefit at all from the increased travel available with the 3x3 arms. You probably don't need to go ALL the way to 930 CVs, but it certainly would be ideal- do it once and be done, y'know?

I know its not cheap. I will probably finish the Baja and slowly get the 3x3 set up and just bolt it all in when I have it all.

wow, that's great. so everything would cost around $$$1000$$$ right, maybe some more after shocks...

how hard is it to install?

and i'ld probably stick with the stock tranny.

what is the difference with the busy trannies?

and last, would doing the warrior front beam look too wierd without doing the 3x3's in back first?

good times...

It's about $800 for the CV/axle kit, plus another $375 for the 3x3 arms themselves, THEN you still have to buy shocks. If you wanna add disk brakes, keep going! $$$$

If your car's already IRS, it shouldn't be bad at all- all bolt on, except maybe welding brake caliper mounting tabs to your 3x3 arms if you go disk brakes.

The bus trannies are stronger. Depends on 1) how hard you plan to use/abuse the car, and 2) what type of engine you're planning on running as to whether or not you need to upgrade the trans or not. If you're going with the 3x3 setup, presumably you're going to be running the car fairly hard from time to time, so you may want to consider upgrading the trans to a bus. Also, I may be wrong on this, but I THINK if you're going to upgrade your CVs to either type 2 (bus) or 930, you HAVE to have a bus trans. I think the only CVs you can run with a bug IRS trans are bug CV's, and that's going to cripple your travel with the 3x3s.

That's a matter of opinion, I guess. I don't think it'd be horrible looking...

Tony, you can run 930's w/ a type 1 trans. Just drive flanges.
