I just came back from Phoenix. Went looking for wrecking yards on Broadway, 35 to 51 ave. No yards, all houses now. Where have all the yards gone? I am looking for misc. parts to adapt that I won't know if they will work untill I see them.

My favorite still is Ecology on 27th avenue just south of Washington(between Buckeye and McDowell, look for the orange water tower). Granted there may only be a handful of VW's in there, but geez it's fun to just walk through. Plus being a pull it yourself yard, they don't give a rip how you take something off. And I like the set prices on stuff, no surprises. Just don't waste your time on half price day unless you like standing in lines for 5-8 hours.

Found them on mapquest. I turned toward 51st from 35th and Broadway. Should have turned the other way, missed the entire area. Have not been there in eight years and lost my landmarks. How Phoenix changes.
Was actually loking for american and foriegn parts to adapt.
Seats for baja.
Tail lights fo 62 van.
Tail gate handle assembly to make bed cover for truck.

You gotta at least visit Ecology. It's about $2 to get in, 18 and over I think. They check your tools for weapons, beer when you enter. When you leave they check again, but don't care about nuts,bolts,etc....so you can load up on little stuff like that. Prices are posted on the back of the guard shack. Wheel prices include the tires on 'em. I bought Chevy15x7 rallyes for $12each with tires I ran for a year. Other yards wanted $25-50 for the wheels only. And, carb prices are for a carb, doesn't matter what it is. I got a Edelbrock performer like new...$25. Buddy got a Edelbrock manifold, edelbrock carb...same prices as stock pieces. 99% of the cars are not wrecked, just trade in's or buy backs on one of those lame oil company deals. ps. It can get a touch rough there, so watch yourself and your tools.
