Hows it going guys. I just bought a 72 Baja. I got it at a steal. It has all the right parts but it was thrown together. Im going to take it down to the pan and put it back together the right way. I also relized that the pan is rusty, and the previous owner fiberglassed over it. Is there a good and cheap way of replacing it. I found pan halves on the net at cip1.com for about 60$ a side. I read in the forum that some one was going to use sheet metal. Is this recommended? I know that you would have to put extra supports in there. So if any one knows of a way that is cheaper than 170$ (2 pan halves and shipping) let me know.

Thanks

Use the pan halves. They are stronger when they are put in. Flat sheet metal dosen't hold up. Plus you have to fab up seat mounts etc. Just make shure that you can weld sheetmetal and you MUST take the body off to do it right!

cip1 is not far from you. see if they have em in stock vs shippin to oceanside.

always try to stay with (close to) oem replacement parts. pan 1/4's and 1'/2's are great!

Get them from Chirco, They have quality pan halfs for about $49, and dont rip you off on shipping like other suppliers do.
