Ok guys, figure I might get some opinions on which direction I should head:

I found some rust on my car today. Luckily its the only rust on the whole car. It has some rust on both sides where the running boards mount to the heater channel. From what I have found in research, this is called the runningboard fastener panel AND it can be purchased but requires "grafting" into the heater channels. The drivers side is much worse than the right side. Here are the pix -

So here is the question. Should I bite the BIG BULLET and replace the full heater channels? OR Replace just the running board fastener panel? The channels themself insid the car and at bother fender wells are in great shape.

This is the panel I am talking about (Panel from cip1.com) and here is the diagram I was using to find this stuff (Parts Breakdown) - I was looking at part "M"

Any suggestions on what I should do would be greatly appreciated. I am very handy at fabrication (built the red baja) but I have never done any sheet/body metal work. I am confident in the panel replacement, but for me to take on the heater channel myself I am a little weary.

Open to options/opinions...

Blaine

I would cut the running board mount out and check out the inside of the heater channel and go from there. If it looks ok inside then just replace the running board mount, if its looking kinda iffy then you might want to bit ethe bullet. As scott (bajawarrior) its alot of work to do heater channels, might be easier to find another body if it comes to that.

I live on the East Coast, I would trade shells with you in a heartbeat, I would have been done a year ago now if I didn't have rust. Hell, I almost have to recreate my whole body. I agree with bugzyla cut it out and check what you got..
P.S. got anymore rotted out bodies like that just laying around l can get from you..
