Actually, I would have to disagree with that. Less back pressure on an exhaust system tends to richen your burn. When you add your exhaust, look for black, sooty stuff in your tailpipe after you run it for 50 miles or so. If (and when) it shows up, you'll see what I mean.

My experience has been the opposite. Addition of a exhaust system leans out the system, requiring a larger jet. My first bug had a state of the art 40 horse with big bore kit(woohoo big time in '69)and a extractor. Ran like crap till I upped the jet about 3 or 4 sizes. Putting a extractor system and stinger on a little 1300 is like throwing a edelbrock manifold, headers and 3" exhaust on a 350. Sorta. Just my 2cents....

I had a little richer mixture on my 1500 with a H 30/31 and stinger, but nothing a little adjustment couldn't handle.

My 1641 runs happily though. with no adjustment.

Stinger baffled in both cases. I seriously doubt there's any packing left in the baffle, but it's still in there Smile

So the correct answer, twistedsmily, would be add the exhaust and see what happens. Monitor the color of the inside of your new system, and you should get a pretty good indication of what (if any) adjustments you need to make.

Keep us posted, too. I'm curious to see what happens, myself.

I should have added(if I'd remembered)that my experience was at 5,280 ft. in Denver. Altitude affects equal effects. Perhaps that's why 57baja and others had the reverse situations. For those who remember when everything was carbureted, high altitude kits....
