Don't know if they were stock fenders or not. They are fiberglass, so is the hood and nose. I trimmed the fenders a bit.

I say make your own. Borrow a buddies kit, make your own molds and lay your own up. That's how I did it in '77 or so(while walking uphill to school in 7' of snow). Course I didn't have to pay for materials working at a votech school, but it was quite easy and fun. If you can paper mache(sp?)you can do it. Just don't rub your eyes when sanding like I did.

geez I gotta get old pictures scanned and into this computer somehow.

that is an idea i had but never followed becuz for 1 i dont know hte first thing about fiber glass...and i am the ONLY one into bajas for 45 miles,and dont no any of those people so molding after thim is out of the question.but i am wanting to make my own mold.....any one ever done that b4 what is involved ?

dang !!!! i love that car 57' not the color but "to each his own" but that car is killer.....what we talkn ? 6 inch wider beam ? 3x3 ? come'on gimmie details,love the front end where ya'll getn it ?

Made my own molds(already posted that)of the baja wide eye kit, plus vw glovebox and wiring cover(that cardboard thingie you always rip out to get to your fuses and radio). Really a easy process IF you have a piece to mold off of. I think you're talking starting from scratch, and that involves as much as you want it to, from a wooden buck, to plaster of paris over lots of newspaper stuffing. Don't laugh, how do you think Ed big daddy Roth made those weird show cars? If you want to just try making a duplicate of something, start with a easy, not too curvy item, like the wiring cover. You can spend bucks and buy mold release etc...or just get some good paste wax(auto detail type), put on about 20 coats or so of it(dry and buff between each), then follow the directions on your handy fiberglas kit from Pep boys,checker,wallyworld,napa whatever, mix your gel, lay out your mat, saturate it thouroughly, get the air bubbles out. Determine how thick(strong)you want it, more than one layer can be applied but don't let it dry completely between them. Let it set at least 24 hours, pop it off and if you did a good wax prep job, viola!!! you have a mold to make a part off of. Simple huh?! and the smell of too hot a mix of gel is so invigorating! remember too, you can use multiple materials to reinforce ie; cardboard,wood,conduit, sheet metal....ps. wear really old clothes and shoes.
