is there any danger of driving the baja in the rain? i mean, will water get into the engine and lock it up? i ask this because it will soon be the rainy season here and if i cant drive the baja in the rain to get to work, ill have to sell it. my main worry is if it gets into the oil breather. will this do any serious damage? th anks alot guys.

yes, it will not turn well in the rain and when your brake the front wheels some times lock up. so do not hit the brakes to hard in a turn. as for running it in the rain. no just make sure you have an air cleaner and cover and if you have a stinge cover it when not in use.

...that's KANSAS, not AR-kansas!

LOL

Meangreen - if the car on your avatar is the one you own now, I figure you don't need another!

Mud-tacular.

i live about 15 miles from the colorado line. but if i decide to sell it i might be able to meet you in wichita or something. i always enjoy a nice long drive. IF i do decide to sell it, i think i would like to get $1,700-1,500 out of it after all my new parts are in (weather stripping, windows, suspention, and solid mounts). or if you would be willing i might trade you for that MR2 if i like it. pictures can be found here:

www.cardomain.com/ride/2998871

it just all depends if i decide to sell it.

for the rain, keep a can of WD40 with you. it disappates(sp?)water, you can spray your distributor full of the stuff and it will fire right up. and yeah, light on the front is not fun in rain or wind for that matter.

I would just add weight to the front for those conditions, take it out when you are gonna go offroad, that and some caution and you should be ok.

from my experience....a raised baja with a 1 piece front end, all sheet metal cut off back to the footwell will be so light at 85-90 that you will almost put caca in your jockeys the first turn you come into. That with a tank of gas, spare tire and some tools up front. But tire wear was zip!

I drove my 69 baja with T3pancake and dual carbs Denver to Phoenix and back. Trying to outrun a late spring slushy snowfall by Walsenberg, I froze both carbs, solid ice chunks. Dumped a tank of unburnt gas into the crankcase. The body trimmed to the max, rear tires throwing everything onto the carbs...tow bill, motel, changing oil in the parking lot next day and on the way home the distinct sound of a bearing going...that was during the 85-90 blast up hiway 666 gallup to Farmington. If I'd been running a upright single carb, no problem even without a engine cover thingie.
