hey guys, im new here and first i just wanted to say this site is awesome. i am a four wheeler racer from texas and in my free time me and my dad have been workin on my 73 beetle. i really want to make it a baja bug, like a nice one that i will be driving on the road too. but i have some questions to ask..

- most baja beetles i see look very narrow in the front and have just big tires and look tall and tipsy, i want to know how to get a tall front end but i like it wide. the green baja bug that is on the home page is exactly how i like it, its perfect width. how do you achieve this? spacers? i also came across this topic from lucky7-11and he mentiond something about a widened front beam? his bug is about what im trying to achieve width wise
and also what size tires are they? and what size tires do yall run on yalls bajas?and are taller shocks neccesarry? or what about a lift kit? sorry for all those questions but im very curious of how to get the perfect baja bug. any info and websites to purchase these parts would help a ton! thank you

and also where did the owner of the green baja bug get his bumper? i would be interested gettting one ,, or might try to make one myself

A beam that is 6" wider than stock is a very common addition to bajas. You can buy what's called a Warrior beam that is +6, or you can just widen a stock one yourself if you're so inclined. Then, you can also add longer-than-stock trailing arms on your front suspension for even more width, but, more importantly, more suspension travel.

A common front tire is a 7.00-15. My car has 31" BFG's on the front, and 33s on the back. Just depends on what you like, and how much $$$ you want to spend! (My tires were on my car when I bought it). Longer shocks depends on how much travel you want, and how you set up your suspension. Lift kits are limited to body lifts only pretty much- the rest is done with suspension mods for more travel and clearance.

Can't help you with that one, but maybe Eric can (his green baja).

Good luck, and welcome to the site!

Welcome to the site,

I'm new here on this site myself. But, this bunch are a #1 group.

My Baja is pertty much as "az350x" described...
Except my Front tires are Yokahama's 7.00 X 15 (30" tall) on 5" X 15 rims... The Rears are 10.50 X 31 (30" tall ) on 10" wide rims., the spare is the same as the front.. 30" tall... will work on the front or rear..

Also, see the post above by Mykul "New to Baja's".. will be a great help and anwser alot of questions.

Lucky7-11

If you want a custom bumper or nerf bars talk to bugzila. He did mine and the nerf bars are atached to my roll cage and you can stand on them.

If it it looks like somthing you have not seen before. Some one built it custom. If it looks the same as every other part you see, then you can buy it from the aftermarket...:)

The bumper you see on my Baja are the frame of the car. The Car is a semi full cage and suports every thing off it. from the engine to the front beam. The Body just keeps you dry kind of.

When I say semi full cage...No Cross bars, door bars or diagnals. This is driven on the street too. So I put more into getting in and out of the car every day than a full time off road car.
