I know many of you guys aren't from around here, but I thought I'd put this up anyways.

I was curious to see if anyone was interested in going to Anza-Borrego for the weekend sometime in March or April. It's just west of the Salton Sea in SoCal.

A couple of us are headed out there, and it would be cool to hook up.

Anza-Borrego is a State Park with over 500 miles of dirt roads and jeep trails. It's a great run for bajas, as there are many interesting and challenging areas to drive and explore.

I've taken many trips out there; my family has a cabin just off of Yaqui Pass. It is the reason that I built my car.

I would love to catch up with you out there, but it just isn't in the cards for me this year. The next time I will be in BS is likely Thanksgiving.

Have fun. Have you planned out which trails you are going to run?

No. There are a few really good ones. I can't remember the name of it, but I for sure want to do the one with "The Squeeze" on it. There is also a bunch of trails in the south side that converge into one that leads into Borrego Springs that's got some great views. The one north out of the park that dumps you into that little town is cool too, and sometimes you can see the Bighorn Sheep that live up there if you're lucky.

I've got to run down some maps of the place. Like I said... I haven't been there in awhile. Do you have some suggestions on trails?

The squeeze would be Pinyon mountain...not a trail for the faint of heart or ground clearance, it drops into fish creek / split mountain.

I actually prefer the other way: Vallecito / Carrizo dropoff, which also drops you into fish creek. (this may be the one you are thinking of) Lots of cool scenery, and there are fun mud caves to explore on tapiado. Anywhere in fish creek is a safe bet and fun time.

Another good one is Chariot / Oriflamme, which starts up in Banner and ends up in Blair Valley. The one that runs out to the north is Coyote Creek, and has really changed from the time when you used to be able to run all the way through to Anza. It is blocked off just past Collins valley, and they diverted the road over a mountain, so it is more of a boulder hopping exercise than the gentle trek up the creek that it used to be. It's also fun just running in the valley... buttes pass area with borrego mountain road and the goat trail are fun. Then either run up to the palms and calcite mine, or out toward the salton sea and the artesian well in the san felipe hills.

It been too long since I've been out there... Crying or Very sad
