Well, now that I am back and actually living here, I am starting my search again.

I'm looking for a car that is mostly ready to go, caged, decent reliable motor, preferrably bus transaxle, linkpin and IRS, though all could be converted, I have little work area for heavy fab here at my rental.

I want to be as close to a class 5 bug as my budget allows.

I will be looking to sell my Harley, or possibly my '99 Camaro - making the baja a daily driver that is very reliable a requirement.

It may take a while to find the right car, but I can't wait to get back to it!

Of course, I could trade if the deal was right, I suppose.

Oh, yes - I caved and bought a USB keyboard until I get my laptop fixed. Sorry about the screwey posts the last few days. It is like trying to read code....and it was no picnic cutting and pasting and working around it!

I am looking forward to meeting some Tucson (and otherAZ ) members, I missed the BBQ last fall, obviously! Rolling Eyes

Jeff

Cool! I love old Harleys. Is it real or a repo? Either way it's cool!

Thanks!

It is a one of a kind. I built it from 3 crates of parts. It is actually a 1977 Sportster I built to look like a 1942 WLA scout bike, loosely. It has parts from at least 6 bikes ranging from 1945 to 2000.

It has a couple issues left to work out, but I do ride it.

Time for it to go, though - I need a baja.

I wish this guy would do a trade - it is just what I am looking for-
phoenix.craigslist.org...94754.html

It has some engine issues, and the fuel tank is full of bad gas and water, and he ran it and the motor quit (carb plugged, likely, float bowl full of crap) Problem is, the tank is stuck inside the welded front cage, so the tubing will have to be cut to get the tank out and clean it.

That car would be perfect - if I could sell crap to finance it fast enough. He won't trade.

Jeff

Jeff-

Here is my buddy's baja (friend from work)... Its a pretty good buy, a lot of work had gone into it, but it has tons of potential.

That's a pretty nice car for the $$$, all things considered. It's a Super, but at least it's already LP-converted.

Yeah, getting that front end swapped is a big job, but as I understand it, that's the big issue?

A fellow board member contacted me last night about a trade....we'll see how it goes, sounds good to me!

Yeah, the McPherson strut front ends that the Supers have are crap-ola. Weak and very limited on upgrades for travel, etc.

If I had the $$, I'd jump on that like a drunken cheerleader on prom night!

Don't do that by the way, it's not nice.

Going to look at another one today, though.
