#1 i need to replace the gasket on my steering box, does anybody sell just the gasket? and also what type of grease do they pack the steering box with?

#2 how in the world do you get the door hinges off the door? looks like they are riveted on or something!

I would just put some Molly grease in it, just don't over pack it. As far as the gasket, make your own, not a abundance of replacement parts. The Doors, I have no clue.

Heres the deal. You can just use a sealant on the top of the steering box, no need for a gasket. From the factory the boxes did have oil in them however the bottom seal tends to leak at drop of a pin. Soooo heres the fix. Look on the top cover of the box and you will find 2 plastic plugs. Take one of the plus out and tap it and screw in a grease fitting (the cover is aluminum so its easy to do). Take the other plastic plug and poke a pin hole in it, this way when you grease it it will come out the hole when full. I have been doing this since the 80s and it works great!!!

Could he not just put grease inside, sealant on top and install the cover. How many times does one add grease to there Steering box, most people with a grease nipple will fill it till it shoots out of some orfice which now means a seal has been breached which means if something got out, something can get in.

The doors unbolt from the car. There are 3 bolts on each of the hinges inside the door seem. At least one of them should have a round plastic plug over it. The bolts are a large Philip's head and pretty difficult to break loose with out stripping them, so use the right screwdriver tip and a manual impact driver (Harbor Frieght has them cheep). The other side of the hindge is welded/rivited to the door. Personally it's not worth messing with. If there is a problem on that side replace the doors.

Yes you can just pack it with grease and seal it up if you want.
