Come on now don't hold back let us know how you really feel about it.

2 feet short, there is something else amiss cause there was not 2 feet changes in the bug. Verify that you ordered and recieved the correct cables, maybe somebody can measure theres to see how long it should be.

It seems like every time I order something online that should fit my '66 it never does fit. So, I have stopped ordering stuff online and have tried finding it local.

You could make one, do you have a Home Depot or Lowes or hardware store nearby?

iv checked all the local places and being a small town, they mainly carry newer car(nothing older then 70's for alot of parts) parts and farm related parts. none of them have a throttle cable for a 65 bug. the closest parts store that would have one is about 100 miles away(garden city). i think im just going to try to rig something up with the 3 cables i have.

You could make one out of braided steel cable, like what you would use for the cables on a garage door.

ok now this is just weird....

i just checked the length of the cable that was in the bug before it broke, and the new one by stretching them out and holding them side by side(two person job). they are the same length! so why would it not fit? this just dosnt make sense...

Are you sure you are routing it properly? Maybe a second set of eyes would see something you are missing.

isnt there only one way to rout it? im routing it the same way i routed the HD cable(the peddle part was too long, didnt give me full throttle) and it went where it was suposed to. i dont know... ill go out and give it a good look....

Now apologize to Chirco.

Good boy.

BTW, even a t4 motor wouldn't have a 2 foot discrepancy, and AFAIK pans are the same length, or you'd not be able to put an oval on an irs pan (for example)

Never once had any problems sourcing parts for my '66...
