I am a retired Army dude (Ranger, Airborne, Air Assault, several deployments and 21 years went by in a flash) with a 2005 Acura TL that needs to go to make room for the Baja I don't have. I had a '63 Baja when I was in high school (WELL before the turn of the century) and would like to get back into it. I'm currently a computer guy supporting the US Army.

I have been reading many of the posts trying to get information and will eventually post specific questions / pictures as my project gets started but for the most part I lurk trying to do as much research as possible. Essentially, what I want is a Baja bug I can occasionally take off-road (until I get more off-road experience) but that I can also use to / from work (meaning I would REALLY like A/C). Undoubtedly, this will be a long-term project but one that I wish to start right so I can add to without having to rebuild.

I found this site through a Google search several months ago and finally got around to registering. Looking forward to "meeting" many of you online and the Arizona dudes in real life.

Toyota powered and water cooled sounds like a fun swap. I have been reading the forums and there is another site (http://frost.bbboy.net/vwengineconversions) that talks about conversions that I have been reading as well.

Thanks to all and hope to get that Baja sooner than later.

Richard
