I’ve been given the green light to step up my Baja to the next level. I’d like to take it somewhere around prerunner level and I’ve got a budget of around 10 thousand. This car is a daily driver and if it’s down for a week or two no big deal there is an SUV in the mix but my goal is to keep it a daily driver.

What I’ve got now is a solid 68 pan and pretty much everything is stock. I’d like to start with the front end. Right now I have a raised BJ front end from Chirco, nice but it's still stock. I’d like to go disc with a different raised beam setup with real shocks. Cutting, welding, body mods are not an issue.

What is on your front end and what would you have done differently?

I good front end would be a 6" wider or more link pin with 4 over arms, coil overs (FOA has good deals) a saco rack, combo spindles and disc brakes. I can build you any length beam you want, with or without shock towers, chirco has a good deal on the tweed arms, and the saco rack.

I'm guessing that if I go to a link pin beam I'll need to change out the frame head also? Also, the saco rack... how do they handle on the pavement? I thought I saw something that they are a little spooky on the freeway?

Well if I can ever get the machine shop to finish my spindle carriers I can build you a conversion beam that will bolt to the balljoint frame head. The saco rack has the provision so you can put a steering dampner on it and should work fine on the street that way.

That sounds much better than swapping out the frame head! LMK when your ready and we can talk about the specs.

BugZyla, are you saying that you can make a linkpin front end that will bolt up to a ball joint frame head? I thought that couldn't be done. Sorry but I'm a noob. If you can do that, I would be very interested too.
