So I finally thought I was ready to drive my baja around the block for the first time.

Well, it made it.

But it died about 10 times.

Looks like the inside of the stock gas tank started to fall apart as I drove. It clogged the fuel lines and filters, making the engine die.

Is there a cheap rememdy for this? If not, I will buy the cheap 16 gallon gas tank from Chirco for $60.

Is it rust or dirt? If it's rust, bite the bullet and get a new tank it will be cheaper and much less of your time.

Once a tank rusts you have two options, replace it or treat it. There are as many recipes for treatments as there are for chocolate cake. The only tank treatment I've ever seen work in the long run is costly and very time consuming. For $60 bucks it's not worth messing around. Make sure you flush your fuel line when you replace the tank.

All rubber lines and filter will be replaced. I plan on shooting carb cleaner and compressed air down the hard line in the car.

I'd call to double-check but my guess would be this one.

Good thing I still have it. Especially since it lists which cap to purchase with that tank.

Very Happy

How is the car coming along?

I vote tank replacement. That's what I did. More peace of mind.
