I too am for a club, but might I suggest that we meet for our get togethers maybe up around lake pleasant for the following reasons:

1. plenty of off road land available
2. a lot of the areas I have never seen another living soul other than a wild buro or 2
3. for those who like to camp and or indulge in adult bevrages these areas are agin from what i have seen perfect.
4 lots of areas to choose from from lake pleasant to cowtown to the whitehorse west lots of open land.

lots of areas for rock crawling and just good old fashoned desert camping

drawbacks i guess would be lack of dunes so getting california air with the buggy would be hard Smile

yeah I can see the possabilaty for weekend activaty. but for a meeting place not that fond of.

At least at the park we can get the family out there and have a quick pot luck. Then the kids can go off and play while the club active adults have there meeting and not be stressed about them gettin hurt or bit.

sence you brought up the area, will you do the research on maps of trails and what is needed for our group runs. work out It would be much appreciated. Very Happy

I can think of at least 25-30 different trails that run just east of the marina and run north all the way up to the black mtn hiking trail (been on most of the north run trails) and thats between the marina and new river rd. on the east side of new river rd I have been mainly east all the way out to the river (which is dry and a whole lotta fun if you like rock crawling) see www.vandalproductions....baja3.html for some video of the river and baja2.html for a few shots getting there.

what I will have to do is get the rv moved and then head back up here and bring the laptop and the gps. then use delorme and do the gps breadcrumb trail thing and chart out all the trails I know of and new ones I can find over a few weekends.

That way I can post any and all up here. I can tell you it will take about 3 or 4 weekends to get all the data just on the 3 locations up here since they are so vast.

I know a good part of north of 74, I have been out to cowtown once and took the trail along the canal all the way back up to 74 and have yet to go hang with the quads out at the wildhorse yet but have been invited Smile

I am just shocked that in 3 months I have seen exactly 1 other baja and 1 really wicked rail up here. everything else are quads and bikes.

I try to get out a couple of times a week and have never seen any type of state vehicle or authority and I know for a fact that folks come out and camp and shoot (found fire rings and more shotgun shells than I can count)

pretty isolated up here but it wouldnt be a hard drive from even mesa probably 35-40 from scottsdale 45-50 from mesa/tempe.

I also know we could dry camp at the marina here (paid but we could get a discount) and use that as a basecamp and do trailruns and such from there. I will check into the cost but across from the rv park is about a 200 acre level dirt lot they use as overflow and it would be perfect for a basecamp/ AO and I think we could get in for like 5 bux ea a night or less.

if you look at a topo map. there is a trail from wikiup on the 93 that goes on old mine roads through the mts to kingman. at least a full days ride. what ya think? its dead chicken raod or cattle squished hwy. somehtin odd like that just north passed the chevron on the left.

there is a restaurant up in the mts to stop at for din din . thew manager of the walgreens in kingman was tellin me about that.
