go to servicearizona.com for all the details. as a rail you can get a specific registration I think. coconino county (northern arizona) has no smog requirements, though down south they do.

leather, if your feeling lucky, go the the DMV and see if you can get a plate. depending on who you talk to down there, you can walk out with a street legal plate. it does happen, they make you sign a waver stating that you are in compliance to be street legal... |
I am hoping because it is already titled and licensed that it will be a breeze. Wavier, get me a pen, I will sign the stinking wavier. Arkansas is pretty easy with there registrations and no emissions. We will see.

If you're bringing it in from out-of-state, it's just a VIN verification inspection (no safety inspection).
If it's titled as 1966 or earlier, there's no emissions inspection in Phoenix (Maricopa County). Anything '67 or newer will have emissions required in Phoenix (and Tucson).
The safety stuff is pretty basic- think it might be similar to what's required to make a quad street legal (you can do that too here in AZ!)- mirror(s), brake light, horn. On a buggy I believe a windshield is also required. They really never even inspect it-you just have to have all that stuff if a cop sees you out and about in it.

Leather, what year is it registered as in AR? As far as smog is concerned, there is also a "collector car" program here where you do not have to deal w/smog. Just have to have collector car insurance, can't drive in rush hours etc. Works for muscle cars also.

The rail is registered as home made and as a 2005 so I do have time and as the wife said will probably have another buggy to worry about before 2010 rolls around, I like the way she thinks. Should not be to bad, I am sure worth the hassle.
