Real simple, especially with a Baja. Did it all by myself with a floor jack. The hard part is lifting it up onto the jack. I put a small piece of plywood on the jack. Once on, you just jack it up till you can get a bolt started. There's only four. Bolt it up, hook up the wires and you're in business. Good luck.

I'd STRONGLY suggest getting the muir idiot book. It goes over how to install an engine step by step in simple terms, and it's worth the 20 bucks or 25, whatever it is this week.

make sure your clutch and throwout are inline and fitted tight. that easy, you can tell when its not (it will be loose Confused ) then be sure to grease your starter teeth a bit and i found a LITTLE grease is helpful on the trannys input shaft. it should just slide in real nice with the a little lube.

do not for get the clutch alighnment tool thing. that is the key!!!! Then find another Bozo to help you out and lift it up and into place. You can have the engin in and out under 10 min and if you have a good wire/plug in set up and no oil lins you can have it up running and driving in 15 min.

i can never remember the name of that tool.... but yes AZ has a good point, (dOh! moment on my part) align your clutch properly and you will have no problems.... the Muir book and/or VW chilton books can show you exactly how Smile good luck!

Another thing that's V.handy to use if you've got it, is an ATV/Motorcycle jack. The motor sitc on it nicely, rather than struggling with a single pivot point like on a conventional platform jack.

You can get a trans jack top section that mounts on a regular jack which makes it easy also!

Here's one: store.summitracing.com...toview=sku

Or another cheap alternative: www.harborfreight.com/...mber=39178

Take it back out and stick a solid mout strap kit in there. You'll get a little extra noise but that's not a bad thing in a Baja!!! Twisted Evil
