hello. i have posted on this site before, but never made a full intro. so, here it is. the names craig. hows it goin? i am picking up my second vw bug this tuesday. i bought my first bug at 16, pretty much fell in love with it. it was a 1963 bug, 1600 duel port, header, and glasspack(later took the glasspack off and just had the header). my plan was to convert it into a baja, but i lost my job and never finished it. so now im almost 18, and found another bug that has already been baja-ed(?). has a porsche 2.0 in it out of a 914. pictures below, tell me what you think Smile

the windows are in it, he just took pictures of it while they were out.

Greetings from another type 4 convert. I am curious to see what transmission you have as well. I am noticing a non-stock bolt pattern too. Does it have the good heads on it still? (371A I think, they have a three-stud pattern where the intake manifold bolts up)

Not that I've tried it, but I've heard that t4's don't like center mount carbs due to the lack of manifold heat. That may be a problem since you live where it actually gets cold. That doesn't mean that I wouldn't try it out first though. Good luck!

Welcome to the site- looks like a fun starter you've got there. I know nothing about that powerplant, but seems like it'd be a fun setup! Enjoy the site- it is a little slow right now for some reason... Been like that for a couple weeks.

i believe it has the stock transmission, not sure tho. keep in mind i havnt driven it yet because its 300 miles away, going to go pick it up this saturday. the owner tells me it runs good, he just did the swap a couple weeks ago. when i get it back home you guys can expect lot of pictures and a video or two. its going to be a pretty big change from my last car tho. haha. it was a 1976 ford f250. HUGE. also, what kind of top speed can i expect out of the stock transmission? can i go regular highway speeds or do i have to stick with 55?

your driving a giant wiffle ball. Tops speeds are on how brave you are. 75 in a Baja is a lot faster than 75 in the Focus Wagon. Seems around 55mph to 65 mph is about normal.

well, i went and test drove it a few days ago, this thing is freakin crazy. pretty damn fast. but, i took some more pictures while i was there. the only reason i didnt buy it when i test drove it is because the master cylinder on the brakes went out on my while i was driving it, and it would be just plain stupid to drive it 250 miles with no brakes. it was an interesting test drive. ran three stop signes in the corse of 30 seconds. anyways, its an amazing bug, looks 100X better in person then it does in the first pictures i posted. i love it. heres the pics i took of it:

just so you know, the pics are huge.

does it look like the front is wider then stock? i asked the guy if he got a wider beem and he said he didnt really do anything to it besides put it together. looks wider to me. also, the rear suspention was converted to full coilover suspention. pretty bad ass.
