I'm looking to get maybe 2 inches of lift on my front end by cranking on the torsion bars, im new to this Bug thing, and am unabel to find the torsion bars =/ also, how much should i adjust them and also do i only need a wrench, r so i need special tools/kits?

Then you have a couple of options:
1, Buy an off road beam with adjusters welded in.
2, Cut your beam and weld in adjusters.
3, Cut your beam, rotate the center section 1/4 " and reweld.

I was thinking about cutting and turning my front beam, what about the rear IRS? Is that a cut and turn job too? Or is there away to do it at the outside ends, since the rear has t-bars (I think) instead of leaf packs? Mine's a '75, by the way, with those tubes poking out in front of the rear wheels, which I'd like to eliminate by converting to the flush plates w/ shorter bars to clear bigger tires. Can raising the rear end be done as part of the conversion, thus saving me the trouble of cutting and turning?

For the rear of the car you are on the right track.

Thanks Don! Are the 501148S plates the correct p/n for a '75? What p/n are the red grommets and SA bushings? One more thing, does this job (front and rear) just increase the ride height? Or does it add a little to suspension travel too? Appreciate the info!

Here is the one I am using:

It is 6" wider, so you need a new spring pack. They also have stock width beams.

For the rear IRS, here is a build which they did the same thing. Also no welding in the rear if you already have IRS:

I have a 69 with ball joint, not link pin, so im assuming this:

Kind of as good as it gets for ball joint if you want to do a beam. 2 other options:

Lift spindles from blind chicken racing. Keep a softer ride, does not tax the ball joints.

Get thing trailing arms and spindle. Heavier duty than type 1 and built in lift.
