And now the tinkering begins! I've already pulled the front seats tonight (Scott's going to re-cover them for me), pulled the 1-pc front end off to have a look around (YIKES!), and so on. Drove it home- it won't idle right now, smokes pretty good, and the steering felt a little funny on the way home (figured out WHY when I got to looking at it).

Anyway, it's a '59, has a 1915 with a 002 trans, Scat drag shifter, 3x3s with rear disks, fully caged, Racetrim front seats with Crow 5-pt 3" harnesses, powder-coated front and rear bumpers and "nerf" bars (gray hammered finish), near-new 33x10.50x15 BFGs (rear) and 30x9.50x15 BFGs (front) all on polished Centerline-type rims, 4 KC lights on front, an Autometer tach, CNC billet pedal assembly, CNC hydraulic clutch, and probably more stuff I don't know about.

It turns out the steering is a little mushy because the left front wheel assembly is loose (link pin?), and THEN I noticed that there's no backing plate on the left front- it's just a drum on that side! The right front has a backing plate, but the brake line is capped off near the pedal assembly. Looks like I'm going to have to pull the front wheels off and do some re-building up front. Have to figure out what I need first, I guess.

Anyhow, I'm pretty stoked about the car- it's got a lot of nice stuff but hasn't been taken great care of. It's a lot more car than I could build for what I paid for it- that's for SURE, so that makes me very very happy.

Here's some pics...

See how the left front wheel is narrower and leans in at the top??

Looks good...You might upgrade the front beam or put in some taller shock towers, Looks like it will be a blast. So how much did you get taken for on this one?

Scott can do some great cow prints for your seats.

Congrats Tony!! Looks like it is a nice car. Can you take some pictures of the back seat/back of the front seats area please?

Thank you.

Thank you.

I've already yanked the fronts, but I'll get some pics when I get it back together for ya. The back seat is a bit on the small side, and the fronts don't (no pun intended) tilt, so getting in/out of the back is gonna suck BIGtime (sorry kids!). Rolling Eyes

The whole interior has some foam rubber glued to it, even the headliner. There's some pretty gruesome cutting that's been done to the cage back there when they pulled the fuel cell and installed the rear seat, so I'm going to dress up some of that stuff and paint the cage while the interior's out (and remove all the rotted foam rubber junk). Gonna be a busy couple weeks in the garage. THEN, I need to get the front brakes up and running, and then maybe, just maybe, I can start DRIVING it a little! Very Happy

Oh yeah- I have to do all four CV boots first too...

I just added four gallons of Premium and 8 oz. of Marvel to the fuel tank, and about 1/2 qt. of Marvel to the crankcase. Sprayed a bunch of carb cleaner down the carb, so maybe it'll get to where it wants to idle soon.

Is a Dellorto DRLA 2-bbl a good carb? How hard are they to tune/keep running well???

Oh, and front disks are out for now- it was all I could do to get the purchase funding past the Chairman of the Board, so we gots to keep the additional fundage to a minimum for awhile...

Taken for? Laughing I'll just say that it was considerably less than the 5K asking price...

I threw a coat of wax on it last night- it looks like I freakin' PAINTED the car. It was so oxidized it's not even the same color now!

I've got a LOT more interior cleanup to do. PO had some sort of foam rubber glued to the sidewalls and headliner. It's like an inch thick, and now it's all rotten. Gonna be a fair amount of work to get it all out. I'm trying to figure out how to go about it now, or just leave it alone until I cut the roof off (IF I end up doing that- having second thoughts now), and then it'll be easier to get around inside there and do it. Thought about using a pressure washer inside to see how much of it I can break loose that way... Anyone have any suggestions on how to get that stuff out??
