Is there an easy way to tell what kind of CVs a car is running? This setup is bus trans and 3x3 arms. Here's a pic to show the angles we're talking. The remaining suspension travel before the arm hits the pad in the pic is around 7". Is this kind of travel possible with Type2 CV's, or can I expect to find 930 CVs in there?

Thanks.

Anyone else help me out here? Just trying to be fairly sure...

Bajawarrior says he thinks they're Type I cv's. I'm hoping they're not- can't see why someone would spend a bunch of money having a shop put in a 002 and 3x3s and then go with Type I cvs???

Here are the specs. Measuring the outside of the CV cage...

Bug 3.67"

Bus 3.93" (thing are the same diameter, but with larger ball bearings)

Porsche 930 CVs are 4.25"

Hope that helps.

Well, I just pulled my axles out to replace my CV boots. I bought four Type II boots and some Type I boots too, since they were cheap and I'm gonna need them eventually on another project. GUESS WHAT! NONE of them fit. I measured them, and they're 4.25"- I've got 930 CVs, baby! Woohoo! Now I don't have to spend the money for the upgrade later on!!!

Now, too bad I don't have any boots for them...

Where's a good source locally for 930 CV boots?

DOH! I just looked at chirco and discovered that the flanges aren't part of the boots! AND, the flanges and boots aren't exactly cheap. I guess I'll clean them up and look them over and reuse what I can. I did destroy one flange though getting it apart- SHOOT! Time to go pull them out of the trash in the garage.

Also, if anyone's interested, I have since been informed that you can't put T1 flanges on a T2 trans, so if you're going to run a T2 trans, you've got to at least have T2 CVs on the trans. You could then put T1 stubs, but that'd be crazy, no?

If you have the type with separate flanges, I have an extra set here. Call me tomorrow afternoon. 480-343-5933
