Looking good! I'm going to be doing a chop-top like that. Are you planning on leaving the window frames on the doors? I think I want to cut mine off, and gut the doors. No windows means nothing in there to mess with and clank around, break, etc. Can't decide for sure though...

I'm a little concerned about cleaning up the top of the body where the cuts are made also. Don't want a bunch of sharp edges for the kids to get cut on, etc. Guess I'll have to learn some bodywork or find someone with skillz to show me how to dress the cuts up.

I am thinking about putting windows in the dorrd just for those really cold night at the dunes. If it cuts some wind it would be worth it.
I have started cleaning up the sharp edges by welding them up and grinding them down smooth. I am going to try and find a vert windsheild frame so I dont have to try and make the top of the original frame look purty!

Yeah we made it up ourselves....kinda as we went along. I had figured all the dimensions that it needed to be and made a jig to build it all on a table.

bajawarrior...i did see your car in the garage and it is sweet!! Graet job on it.

Here is a pic of the rest of the rear cage we finished Sunday.
Still going to try and add a small wing to house my taillights.

Man, I can't give that thing away. I think it is just in a "between" price range and not too many are looking to spend there. More than most "first car" guys and less than people looking to upgrade...

I have been super busy doing everything other than working on my car.
Altough my goal for having it done for dune season is fading away I have done some stuff to it. I picked up a vw vanagon auto trans built by jeff fields. It should be pretty cool it is a 3speed with a manual valve body so I still have to shift, there is just no clutch. The guy I got it from was running it in front of a LS1. I did keep my 091 just incase its not as cool as I think it will be Laughing
anyways I managed to wedge that into the car with the honda motor. It took some planning and a little bit of love with the plasma cutter. I no longer have frame horns and I had to slide the motor back about an inch.
I also finished my exhaust I built out of a cheap set of ebay headers, magnaflow muffler, and a ubend. Turned out allright for $150.00!! Cool
Last night I started installing my char-lynn unit for the power steering and should be done with that in the next day or whenever I make it back out there.
Heres a few pics.
