Hello.

I'm new, so I thought I'd post a little about myself.

I am moving back to Tucson in August or September (used to live here for 18 years or so) form Wisconsin - as soon as the employment and house sale works out.

I have had a couple bajas when I lived here previously, a mild '68, and a more built '66...I am going to be selling my harley, and getting a Baja as soon as possible once I get back. I'm looking to find a car with most of the heavy fab work done (cage, etc.) that I can improve on and work on over time. Looking to spend in the $2500 - 3000 range to start. Should be able to buy a lot of car for that as a project.

I am married with 4 kids (!), and really look forward to meeting some people in the Tucson area for some offroading and wrenching, and other fun! (beer?)

Look forward to meeting, and participating in the forum.

Jeff

PS - here's a pic of the Harley that is being sacrificed. It's a '77 Sportster built to look like a 1942 WLA Army scout bike. One of a kind, I'm sure it will find a good home - and me a good baja! The pic is from the build process, but you get the idea...

Welcome to AZ Baja, and back to AZ. That is an interesting looking bike. I bet it draws a lot of attention wherever it goes.

Actually, (oddly), I am sitting in a hotel room in Tucson right now! I've been here for a couple weeks. I'm in the Army National Guard, and I've been here for Operation Jumpstart on the Border. I go home Saturday. (I've been baking in the sun for a couple weeks...plus, Iraq was hotter! LOL)

Odd coincidence. My wife and I decided to move back here this last winter, and then I get deployed here.

Really looking forward to getting back and meeting you guys in person. Oh, and getting a car going ASAP!

head on over to chirco's in tucson and talk to Don. Chirco.com 1-800-955-9795

He has a Baja for sale that is real nice, might be above your budget a little but it has all the hard work done.

Thanks - I did already email Don about that car - saw the want ad placed today, it is a bit over my budget, and the timing is off, unfortunately. I have to get the bike sold first. That is one nice Baja. I watched the whole build on the website, super nice. I plan to use that build as my guide, actually.

I was in Chirco the other day when I had some time to kill, hadn't been there in years - I will be a regular soon. I feel my wallet getting hot!

Thanks for all the welcomes, too.

Jeff

Well, got the bike running, and my brother may buy it, so one step closer. Wife & kids headed out for Tucson as we speak (type?)
