I own a 1968 vw baja bug and just reasantly it quit, now i have gone over it a hundred times and know it is not gitting spark to the plugs. I have replaced the points, the condensor, the coil, the spark plug wires, the spark plugs themselvs, and it still gits no spark. so the only thing i havnt done is replace the distributer. it is a 007 boch. Oh yeah i also replaced the cap and rotor. soo if you have any ideas please leav a comment.

thanks

P.S.
i tested the cables with a timing light so i know there is no spark.

How do you check that with a timing light? If the timing light flashes you have spark.

The neg side should flash while cranking. Check it with a "test light" not a timing light

pull the plug wires and stick a screw driver in them and touch it to the frame somehere and try to crank it...thats how i check for spark Wink

next i would touch the wire from ignition to the coil by tapping it against the frame somewhere when the ignition is on...

A test light would be less eventful when testing the lead to the coil. A known good spark plug in the end of the cable is an easy way to check the ignition at the spark plug end. Like Mykul stated, if the timing light is flashing, you have spark where the pickup is on the wire.

That's what I was wondering,a test light to show if power comes on when the key is in the run position,or make one from an old 1156 bulb(Crap, that's the single filitment right?).
Also could the points have came loose and are closed?

Check the pos. side with the test light, it should be keyed power on. the neg. side of the coil should flash when cranking. The flashing indicates if the points are opening and closing thus discharging the condensor. Go to your local lawnmower shop and get a spark tester made for briggs (air cooled) engines. The spark should jump a 5kv gap easily. That will tell you the quality of spark. An electronic ingition setup will, should, jump a 10-20kv gap. OUCH!

Sounds like it might even be a bad fuse. Or wiring or the coil did go bad, but not likely.

Bad coil is possible. There is an ohm spec for the primary and secondary windings. I don't know what they are off the top of my head though. I think they vary per manufacturer.
